The

Point of Sale (POS) Fuel DevOps Engineer

automates software builds, test and deployment systems, and infrastructure as code. DevOps Engineers manage various development, test, staging in Azure/Google cloud platform (code deployment using Continuous Improvement (CI)/Continuous Delivery (CD) pipelines, backups, data refreshes), as well as deploy and manage software into Costco's production environment while leveraging as much automation as possible. They are responsible for continually advancing the technology in a collaborative and creative agile environment using many of the latest technologies and industry best practices and finding better and more efficient ways of delivering solutions that meet business objectives. The DevOps Engineer is responsible for performing tasks necessary to develop and implement new solutions in the Fuel and Point of Sale environment that meet business objectives.

ROLE

• Identifies, creates and applies software development and security standards and practices.

• Plans, designs, and documents software components.

• Collaborates with Operations, Development, and QA functions to develop solutions that are predisposed to scalability and simplified maintenance.

• Configures and maintains on-premises and Azure cloud infrastructure to ensure availability, performance, scalability and security of development, testing and production environments, relying on automated scripts and configuration management tools.

• Creates, and manages Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

• Maintains, extends and builds automated CI and CD pipelines.

• Demonstrates expertise in the deployment of integrated or stand alone releases across multiple interconnected and disperse applications.

• Uses industry standard tools to improve and speed up delivery of our products and services.

• Provides fast and thoughtful issue resolution by executing quick fixes or proactively identifying and solving problems related to builds in production environments.

• Creates the pipeline to periodically generate code quality metrics.

• Drives each team to be self-sufficient by providing tools and training and brings different teams together to work towards common goals.

• Coordinates resources across technology functions to stand up and monitor environments.

• Configures and automates development and test environment, deployment, automation and support test data management.

• Establishes workflows that use the automated pipelines for CI and CD.

• Works closely with product and application teams to create version control branching strategy.

• Works cross-value streams with other DevOps Engineers to avoid and resolve merge conflicts.

• Develops tool integrations that allow for end to end traceability for application development (from requirements to code objects changed to meet the requirements).

• Assists in other areas of the department and company as necessary.

• Installs, configures, tests, and supports a variety of Point of Sale and Fuel applications.

• Identifies, creates, and applies software development and security standards and practices.

• Creates and maintains technical design documentation and identifies which applications are impacted by the solution and associated interface.

• Develops and operates end-to-end automated solutions for POS and Fuel system operations activities, including deployment, monitoring, etc.

• Configures and maintains on-premises and Azure cloud infrastructure to ensure availability, performance, scalability, and security of development, testing and production environments, relying on automated scripts, and configuration management tools.

• Uses industry standard tools to improve and speed up delivery of our products and services.

• Supports POS compliance team to meet Costco's information security policy and IT standards.

• Identifies, develops, implements, reviews, and revises process improvements, procedures, and controls to ensure data accuracy, security, and legal and regulatory compliance.

• Provides 24x7x365 on-call support.

REQUIRED

• 5 years' IT experience.

• Demonstrated proficiency with scripting languages, such as PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, etc.

• Ability to make configuration changes in scale using any scripting language or programming

• Working experience with infrastructure as code building CI/CD pipelines, from a greenfield scenario.

• Experience in container technology, including Kubernetes and Docker.

• Experience with automated management systems, such as Azure DevOps/Ansible/Jenkins/Terraform.

• Experience provisioning and managing cloud services; Azure/Google preferred.

• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to logically think through problem situations.

• Solid understanding of application architecture, network technologies, application security, and infrastructure architecture.

• High integrity, accountability, a positive attitude, and willingness to do what it takes to make the team successful.

• Team player; good interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Creative, likes challenges.

• Ability to work well under pressure and handle crisis situations professionally.

• Scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of the business, including weekends and holidays, as necessary. Recommended

• 3 years' experience deploying enterprise cloud technologies.

• 5 years' experience with enterprise infrastructure and software systems.

• Google Cloud Platform / Microsoft Azure certification(s) preferred.

• Strong understanding of evolving industry standards and technologies in the Point of Sale environment.

• Domain knowledge of the retail industry desired.

• Experience with QA duties is a plus (usability testing, performance testing, automated testing, test scripts, test cases, and test plans).

• Experience with:

• Managing / Configuring SaaS in Azure/Google Cloud Platform.

• REST API integration.

• Sysinternal for system administration.

• GIT for code version control.

• Splunk/Dynatrace for log analysis.

• Payment / Digital wallet integration with point of sale system.

Pay Ranges:

Level 1 - $85,000 - $110,000

Level 2 - $105,000 - $135,000

Level 3 - $130,000 - $160,000
