Primary Purpose of Department The mission of the Athletic Department at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is to operate within the perspective of the overall educational programs. With a balanced program that supports equitable opportunities for all students and staff, the department promotes a total person concept that provides its student-athletes with the necessary tools to be successful in academic, athletic and social settings. The Department of Athletic supports the highest ethical standards of the University, the NCAA and conference affiliation.

Primary Purpose of Position Reporting to the Executive Associate Athletic Director/Executive Director, the Associate Athletic Director for Major Gifts/Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) is responsible for the solicitation of major gifts and leadership and oversight of NIL operations.

Summary of Position Responsibilities

Actively identify and solicit gifts of $50k+. Actively identify, coordinate, and execute NIL opportunities for Charlotte student-athletes. Lead Charlotte Athletics NIL program, developing and coordinating programming and resources. Oversee the processing of student-athlete NIL transactions to ensure NCAA, AAC, and institutional compliance. Proactively coordinate with Charlotte multimedia rights holders in prospecting leads from corporate partners, leading to potential NIL or career opportunities for student-athletes. Serve as primary NIL contact for internal and external stakeholders, including student-athletes, coaches, staff, boosters, third-party individuals, and local businesses. Research and benchmark college athletics NIL market, staying current with relevant trends and market conditions. Implement and oversee a comprehensive annual NIL education program for prospective student-athletes, parents, current student-athletes, coaches, and internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate on NIL initiatives and cross-department functions with all Charlotte Athletics units including compliance, student-athlete development, multimedia production, marketing, and licensing. Comply with all applicable National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and American Athletic Conference (AAC) rules and policies. Educate NIL partners and develop new leads for student-athletes through the identification and pursuit of new NIL opportunities. Maintain accurate records on all existing and prospective partner relationships and interactions

Minimum Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of external experience in a Division I athletics program Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing major gifts within a defined major gift program Extensive fundraising campaign experience and proven track record of collaboration with university counterparts

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Master's degree and 7 years of fundraising experience at a Division I athletics program Ability to interpret complex data to guide strategic decisions Understanding of NIL regulations, trends, and dynamics Proven history of management of a portfolio of prospects Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to work independently and multi-task in an ever-changing environment Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to think strategically Ability to travel and work nights, weekends, and holidays Strong organizational and analytical skills Necessary Certifications/Licenses Valid driver's license is required.
