Apple Services Engineering (ASE) builds amazing products and services for our customers. And we help the rest of the Apple do that, too. This organization is responsible for building and running the cloud infrastructure used across Apple and the server systems and platforms underpinning many of our Services. Our cloud infrastructure brings together foundational technologies in compute, storage, data, traffic, and security into a unified Apple Cloud platform available to all engineering teams at Apple. There is an Engineering Manager role open in the ASE Object Store team. The ASE Object Store is an exabyte-scale distributed storage system that provides the foundation of data storage across Apple. This team builds the platform upon which iCloud and many other backend systems at Apple are built. Durability, availability, performance and security are crucial.

Description

We are looking for a curious and empathetic leader that will partner with multiple cross functional teams (EPM, SRE, Customer Success, Product) to deliver the vision, strategy and adoption of the ASE Object Store. In this role - You will build, scale and grow a team of outstanding engineers. - You will form trusting partnership with senior ICs and managers that are geographically distributed to push the product’s roadmap forward. - Your team will be responsible to prioritize, plan and deliver features end-to-end from inception through production deployment. - Your team’s work will impact hundreds of millions of users and be critical to the success of some of the most visible current and future Apple features.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in EE, CS, or related field – or equivalent experience with 10+ years of experience

Strong written and communication skills.

Ability to dive deep as needed to facilitate technical strategy trade-offs and zoom out to understand the big picture to shape the product.

Experience hiring strong technical talent while maintaining the team culture.

Consistent track record of mentoring and helping engineers grow their careers.

Ability to lead across cross-functional teams.

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of experience as a software engineering manager.

Experience working on distributed databases, distributed storage or other similar large scale distributed systems.

Experience building and running reliable platform systems supporting high-scale and critical workloads, including fast response and short mean-time-to-restore service.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,000 and $313,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
