Summary
An Estimator prepares estimates and budgets for construction projects by compiling all necessary information including project drawings and specifications to determine the overall project cost. The Estimator will produce quantity takeoff, create scopes of work, and collaborate with the design team and subcontractors to calculate costs. The ideal candidate will produce detailed takeoffs and scope reviews, as well as be an active participant in the preconstruction process to understand and deliver client needs.
Commercial Construction Estimator Responsibilities

Complete material and quantity take-offs. Produce bids/estimates and budgets/GMPs using project drawings and specifications. Hold scope review meetings with subcontractors during preconstruction. Request project drawings and specifications from A/E firms as needed. Attend project pre-bids and preconstruction meetings. (virtual or in-person) Assist with bid document control by making bid labels, filing bids, and archiving bid data. Able to develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, owners, and design teams. Create, review, and request information relating to bids. Issue drawings, specifications, and project addenda to subcontractors. Support other Estimators when necessary. Attend networking events as required. Collaborate with Project Managers to create bid packages and scopes of work. Outline clarifications and qualifications within an estimate. Gather knowledge of historical data and unit pricing. Create preliminary construction schedules. Develop project approaches and logistics plans. Requirements
10+ years of relevant work experience in construction estimating at the General Contractor (GC) or trade partner level or related construction experience preferred. Familiarity with the Construction Manager at Risk process. Familiarity with estimating software (On-Screen takeoff preferred). Understanding of marking pricing and trends. Team player and enjoys collaborating with others. Ability to multitask while maintaining a positive attitude. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Project, and Word Benefits Include:
