Tesla's Vehicle Engineering department is composed of thousands of the world's best vehicle, battery, and manufacturing engineers. These engineers are responsible for the mechanical and industrial design of all major programs, for example, batteries, Optimus, Robotaxi, and all new factories. Engineering Automation Software, which is part of Vehicle Engineering, is responsible for making the tools these engineers use every bit as intelligent and dynamic as the products themselves.
As a Software Engineer on the Engineering Automation Software team, you will develop software applications that automate or streamline parts of the design process.
Joining our team means directly impacting Tesla's ability to communicate critical design data as the company scales to ship millions of products a year from factories around the world.
Responsibilities
Develop and optimize robust applications through proficient use of our most common languages: Java, Go, C++, C#, jQuery, Node.js, Bash Act as a strong individual contributor, work in new or existing projects independently Write and review design docs - new services/features, refactors, technology choices, process changes, etc. Participate in code reviews, offer constructive feedback to improve code quality and maintainability Participate in an on-call rotation, manage incidents as Incident Commander, write actionable incident reports Manage tasks via Jira for observability and human capacity planning, maintaining excellent Jira hygiene Participate in hiring, conduct technical screens and provide feedback to hiring manager in panels Work cross-functionally, collaborate with other teams to understand and address their needs Provide mentorship to junior engineers in the application and understanding of best practices, fosters their professional growth Requirements
Strong knowledge of at least one programming language related to our stack: Java, Go, C++, C#, jQuery, Node.js, Bash Strong knowledge of distributed systems architecture and event streaming platforms Strong understanding of REST and/or gRPC based APIs and microservice architecture Strong understanding with one or more database technologies Familiarity with code reviews in the context of a team and providing constructive feedback to others Familiarity with diagnosing problems and incidents in multi-layered enterprise application Familiarity with containerization and deployment configuration with Docker and Kubernetes is preferred Familiarity with CAD tools like Catia/3DX and Solidworks is preferred Compensation and Benefits Benefits

$140,000 - $252,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
