Job Description

The Integration Lead (Expert) is responsible for leading and managing complex integrations between Epic and other third parties. focusing on developing, deploying, and maintaining FHIR, HLN v2 APIs, services, and ensuring seamless integration of EDI and data processes. Additionally, this role will involve working as an Epic Interface Analyst, overseeing Epic system integrations with external and internal systems, and ensuring that all interfaces and integrations related to Epic operate effectively.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with HL7 and FHIR API/Services, EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), data integration, and a strong experience implementing third party interfaces with Epic using Interface engines like Cloverleaf, MuleSoft, Rhapsody, etc. They will also play a critical role in managing the interface configurations within Epic and ensuring smooth data exchange between Epic and third-party systems.

Responsibilities

Lead Integration Projects: Oversee end-to-end integration initiatives, including Epic-related interfaces, ensuring alignment with business goals, technical requirements, and timelines. Epic Interface Management: Serve as the Epic Interface Analyst, managing the development, configuration, and support of interfaces using Epic Bridges or related tools. Ensure that the integration of Epic systems with external applications is seamless. Working with interface engines to ensure seamless data exchange between healthcare systems and applications. Connectivity, Field-by-Field, Unit, Mapped Record, and integration Testing. API Development and Management: Design, develop, and maintain APIs and microservices for communication between internal and external systems, including Epic interfaces. Manage HL7 and FHIR API integrations in Epic. EDI Integration: Manage and implement EDI integrations, ensuring smooth data exchange with external trading partners and clients. This includes working with EDI healthcare transactions like claims (837), remittance advice (835), and eligibility (270/271). Data Integration: Lead data integration efforts, ensuring accurate transformation, validation, and mapping of data between systems, including Epic data feeds. Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance to the integration team on API, EDI, and data integration best practices, as well as on managing Epic interface development and troubleshooting. Solution Design and Architecture: Collaborate with business, IT, and clinical stakeholders to define integration architecture and design scalable solutions, particularly within the Epic environment. Vendor and Partner Management: Work closely with external vendors and third-party partners to manage integrations with Epic and other systems. Troubleshooting and Support: Identify and resolve integration and interface issues, working closely with development, support, and operations teams to ensure seamless operations of Epic interfaces and other integrated systems. Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation for all integration processes, including Epic interface specifications, workflows, and technical specifications. Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all integration and interface solutions comply with industry standards, security protocols, and data privacy regulations, such as HIPAA for healthcare data. Qualifications

Required:

Minimum of 8+ years of experience in integration roles, with significant exposure to HL7 and FHIR API/Services, EDI, and data integration. Experience working as an Epic Interface Analyst with experience of at least 1 Interface engine like Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, or MuleSoft is required. Experience in Epic Interfaces for Eligibility (ANSI/X12), Authorization (ANSI/X12), Claims (ANSI/X12), E-Prescribing, and Financial Transactions. Experience in Epic Public APIs such as Computer-Telephony Integration, Credit Card Device and Payment Gateway, Printing/Faxing. Familiarity with healthcare-specific integration standards, including HL7, FHIR, and HIPAA requirements. Building integrations using SOAP and RESTful Web Services, JDBC database connections using SQL and stored procedures, and vendor specified APIs. Working experience of Interface Engine and integration with Epic PMS. Strong proficiency in API development using REST, SOAP, JSON, and XML. Extensive knowledge of EDI standards (e.g., X12, EDIFACT) and integration with trading partners, especially in healthcare transactions (837, 835, 270/271). Proven experience with data integration platforms and ETL processes (e.g., Informatica, MuleSoft). Experience with Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) standards. Experience with Epic integration tools, such as Epic Bridges and Interconnect. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and integration solutions for Epic on cloud environments. Epic System Expertise: Hands-on experience working with Epic's interface engine, interface configuration, and integration best practices using Epic Bridges. Data Transformation: Proficiency in handling data transformations, mappings, and validations across different formats and systems, particularly with Epic data and third-party applications. Structured & Unstructured Data Management: Work with structured data (e.g., SQL-based systems, relational databases) and unstructured data (e.g., document stores, big data platforms, data lakes) to ensure seamless integration. Design data flows and storage strategies for unstructured data sources like text files, JSON, XML, logs, and multimedia. Problem Solving: Ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues, particularly in the context of Epic system integrations, in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of security protocols such as OAuth, SAML, and encryption standards, especially for healthcare data. Preferred Qualifications:

Epic Certification in relevant modules (Epic Bridges certification). Experience with API management platforms. Experience with CI/CD pipelines for integration processes. Key Competencies:

Strong leadership qualities and experience mentoring technical teams. Highly organized and detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality Epic interface and integration solutions. Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally and with external partners to ensure successful Epic integrations. Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. Pay Grade 23. $106,400- $230,600
