As a Mechanical Design Engineer, Interior Engineering in Tesla's Vehicle Engineering Team, you will be responsible for design, engineer, release and launch of the complete Interior system for future Tesla vehicle product lines. You will be part of the team that pushes boundaries, innovates, and executes world-class interiors that excels in all critical attributes of an Interior System. You will utilize your expertise in one or more of these commodities and develop as a full Vehicle Engineer - designing. engineering and delivering systems rather than just components as you work with a lean and agile team of the best Product Engineers in the industry.
Responsibilities
Engineer, develop and execute world-class interior systems that exceed styling and functional targets and are compliant to regulatory requirements Work through the entire product cycle with critical input early in development by collaborating with Tesla's design/styling and Engineering teams Participate in the iterative process with all stakeholders to deliver the optimal balance of form, function, performance, and cost Implement processes and material selections to achieve world class execution of automotive interior craftsmanship and fit & finish Complete and release interior components, sub-system, and detail designs, utilizing a mix of in-house design and supplier engineering where required (in-house designs are planned for most major commodities), complete engineering change request and appropriate documentation (including drawings) Utilize DFSS methodologies as appropriate during the design, validation and launch of the program Collaborate with key interior system and plastic component suppliers and support overall vehicle development milestones and prototype/production build events Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the Tesla Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Procurement groups to ensure interior system manufacturing and assembly feasibility and serviceability Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience Two years of experience in Product Development / Design Engineering, demonstrating technical aptitude from concept through release and launch for production or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability First principles, physics-based thinker, and problem solver able to handle problems of varied scope and complexity. Demonstrate technical aptitude, excellent communication, and creativity Understanding of latest design technologies used in Product Engineering, clear ability to push boundaries and innovate Experience with complex assemblies, engineering principles in design, prototyping and production Compensation and Benefits Benefits

$80,000 - $174,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
