Position Summary
MFA IS&T is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Engineer to join our MFA IS&T Infra Ops team. This position will report to the manager of that team . This position must provide systems level break/fix support, and, when needed, 24x7 operations support for the systems infrastructure. This position is a critical part of the MFA’s program to maintain and continually improve its systems operational support of the MFA’s medical enterprise.
The Systems Engineer must be comfortable functioning as an SME in any Microsoft related enterprise services, cloud strategy, scripting, networking, and automation methodologies. Additional extensive experience with cloud technologies such as Azure virtualization, native cloud hosted solutions (such as SQL), and hybrid cloud environments is strongly desired.
This critical position will be responsible for the operations and long-term support of the MFA’s datacenter infrastructure migration from an on-premises environment to a hybrid or native cloud environment. Successful candidates must be able to comprehensively analyze the current on-premises datacenter footprint, and plan migration as well as scalability of internal services to a hybrid or native cloud environment.
Experience with Healthcare IT is required. Experience with Epic’s EMR platform is strongly desired.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
• Provide operations support for hybrid and native cloud infrastructure systems to help with future datacenter and cloud footprint planning. • Provide expertise in the administration of Windows Operating Systems, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, print, SQL, and other Windows server roles, features, and applications. • Support VMware ESXi and VCenter based server infrastructure. • Support infrastructure management, monitoring, alarming, patching, and security hardening applications. • Support Microsoft 365 and Azure hosted Exchange, Entra, SharePoint, and OneDrive. • Support the reconfiguration and maintenance of on-premises Windows Server infrastructure. • Implement Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure and long-term data footprint implementation for on-premises and cloud hosted data. • Work with partners, stakeholders, other IS&T departments, or business units to identify incidents and problems Infrastructure services have and provide ownership and direction to resolution. • Create and maintain documentation with common problems, runbooks, and system configuration contributing to the IT infrastructure units to drive SLA maturity and improved operations response. • Provide direction, guidance, and support for other IS&T team members assisting with troubleshooting. • Occasional travel to medical facilities and offsite datacenter may be required on an as needed basis. • Support IT operations via an on-call rotation.

Desired Education
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or 7 years of industry equivalent experience. • Azure Cloud Certifications a plus. • CSEP Certification a plus • MCSE/MCSA Certification or equivalent is a plus.
Desired Experience
• Minimum 7 years of experience working in hybrid or native cloud environments. • Minimum 7 years of experience in a Systems Engineering role. • Minimum 7 years of experience supporting VMware Horizon Infrastructure & ESXI. • Minimum 7 years of experience supporting Microsoft Active Directory & Windows-based Server Operating Systems. • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting IT operations and incident response. • Minimum 5 years of experience with Microsoft 365. • Minimum 5 years of experience with supporting Entra ID. • Minimum 3 years of experience with PowerShell scripting and task automation. • Minimum 3 years of experience with Storage Area Networks. • Strong experience with system migrations & hybrid infrastructure preferred. • Experience with databases (SQL) and database administration preferred. • Experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues in operations-based systems, software, network, and security capacity. • Experience working in Healthcare IT required. • Experience with IT project management is a plus. • Linux experience is a plus.

Must be able to do math calculations and input data into the computer.
