About this Position

The Mechanical Analysis and Thermal Design Operations and Process Leader will drive top level product line tactical and strategic initiatives. In this role, the operations and process leader has purview over the section’s top level metrics for programs that span a diverse set of customers and airframers. Responsibilities include managing the overall portfolio of programs across all four sub-sections to support the team in resource planning and aligning engineering metrics and deliverables with business financial deliverables. The Operations and Process Leader will also partner with the teams to identify strategic waste reduction opportunities and coordinate with Product Line leaders to fund these projects.

The role requires high levels of operational judgment to impact the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team; having a lean mindset and being process focused are essential enablers for the role.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Provides counsel and recommendations to section product line management on both tactical execution and longer term strategic initiatives. Tactical execution includes meeting section level performance metrics including business financial commitments and implementing operational rhythms. Strategic initiatives include long range forecasting and strategic workforce planning as well as Lean continuous improvement.

Responsible for defining and driving section key performance indices (KPIs) including appropriate action plans to close on performance metrics.

Responsible for developing and managing cross functional, technology led, or product focused programs. Manages budgets and interfaces with contractors, suppliers, customers and internal functions. Manages program resource and budget allocation/integration. Manages schedule, budget, and tollgate process for NPI, requisition, or sustaining programs. Influences the programs to meet customer CTQs.

Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university or college.

A minimum of 5 years of combined experience in an engineering role AND program or project leadership role within an engineering environment

Desired Characteristics
