GLOBALFOUNDRIES
DMTS RF/mmWave Design Engineering
GLOBALFOUNDRIES, Richardson, Texas, United States, 75080
GLOBALFOUNDRIES is a seasoned DMTS, RF/mmWave IC Design engineer to design Transmitter, Receiver and VCO/PLL sub-systems which include critical blocks such as VCO, PA, LNA, Switch, and mixer circuits using leading edge IC technologies such as SiGe BiCMOS, RFSOI, FDSOI and FinFET. This effort involves identifying, designing, and demonstrating circuit and system architectures synergistic with GLOBALFOUNDRIES RF/mmWave process technology and emerging market RFIC requirements. Understanding of and experience with RF/mmWave Cellular, WiFi, UWB & AutoRadar Transceiver & PLL systems engineering will be an important part of the role to understand industry requirements and emerging communication systems standards. You will design while utilizing early release and production ready Process Design Kits (PDKs), technology and tool enablement. You will use your design experience to design product-relevant demonstration hardware achieving industry-leading core functionality that meets or surpasses competitive technology performance. With your industry background you will provide feedback that will guide the associated technology definition and design enablement needed by our customers to be successful in their product development. You will also present your results to strategic foundry customers thereby accelerating their time-to-market on GLOBALFOUNDRIES silicon.
Essential Responsibilities:
Collaborate with product management and end markets to define critical performance requirements for next generation wide-area, local-area, ultra-low power and high throughput wireless standards.
Develop state-of-the art Foundry Reference Designs for applications such as WiFi7/8, 5G/6G Cellular, FR3, SatComm, UWB, IoT and Auto Radar, etc. These will form the basis for RF/mmWave circuit, block and subsystem level designs for emerging radio transceiver requirements.
Design, implement and tape-out the relevant Foundry Reference design prototypes on internal test chips and MPWs that will highlight the unique features and capabilities of GLOBALFOUNDRIES technologies such as high performance SiGe, RFSOI, FinFET and FD-SOI.
You will do physical design of critical elements of circuitry, and/or work with physical design and verification engineers to complete the physical design.
Perform electrical verification and modifications to meet specifications.
Characterize initial silicon and/or work with external test engineers for comprehensive testing of sufficient quantities of ICs to demonstrate achievement of critical performance requirements.
Analyze characterization data and document results for sharing.
Work with design partners and customers to communicate design and technology value propositions regarding performances of the Foundry Reference Designs designed by you and the broader team.
Collaborate with innovators at research institutions and universities to push the performance envelope in related fields and future applications of the GF differentiated technology.
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
Guide and mentor junior engineers in the team
Generate novel ideas for technology enhancement and publish novel circuit designs utilizing key GF technology features.
