$2,000 Steilacoom Historical School District District Administrative Center, 511 Chambers Street, Steilacoom 98388 Essential Responsibilities and Duties Act as an advisor to the Superintendent on all business and financial matters. Provide leadership for fiscal operations including budget management, forecasting and revenue strategies to ensure fiscal stability. Analyze and forecast revenues, expenses, cash flow, fund balance and trends as they relate to the financial status of the District. Assist the Superintendent and staff in formulating a sound financial plan for the district. Provide support to the Superintendent and Board of Directors for bond and levy development and implementation, including interaction with outside vendors as necessary. Develop and manage the annual budget, including revenue and expenditure forecasting. Ensure alignment between enrollment projections, staffing models, and financial health. Oversee financial affairs, cost control, revenue enhancement, and fiscal stability. Manage district debt services and capital project funds. Oversee the district’s investment portfolio. Oversee payroll preparation and maintenance of personnel payment records. Provide essential accounting services related to budget preparation and control. Provide guidance and direction to District administrators regarding accounting procedures and annual District budget development. Submit monthly reports to the Board on bills and budget amendments. Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements for financial reporting and auditing. Work with auditors and maintain compliance with purchasing legalities. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Fiscal Services Department personnel. Provide oversight of internal audits and school accounts. Recommend and monitor policies and procedures for financial services. Oversee district contracted services (transportation and student nutrition). Serve on labor management and bargaining teams as assigned. Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and departmental collaboration. Ensure regular attendance, punctuality, and uphold board and district policies. Minimum Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or closely related field Three (3) years experience in an administrative position overseeing the finance operations of a school district; or three (3) years experience auditing school districts in the state of Washington; or equivalent experience. Evidence of prior successful leadership, supervisory, and financial experience Demonstrated success in maintaining the financial health of a school district Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, and policies governing school district finance and operations Excellent oral and written communication skills Experience in implementing labor agreements, resolving conflicts, and supervising others Knowledge of budget building processes and ability to build consensus around budget priorities Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds Ability to present information to the School Board and the general public in a concise and effective manner Ability to lead and develop the annual school district budget using an inclusive process Ability to manage and monitor all district resources and expenditures within budget parameters established by the Board of Directors Ability to gather, represent, and communicate district enrollment and financial status to all stakeholders Desired Qualifications and Skills: Certified Public Accountant Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or closely related field
