The Mandel JCC seeks a dynamic, outgoing, creative and engaging culture carrier to serve as Director of Donor Engagement who manages The J's Annual Campaign, implementation of strategic development, and cultivating a portfolio of donors. The Director of Donor Engagement will be responsible for the Annual Day of Giving at The J and also assist with Special Events as needed.
Director of Donor Engagement will be an entrepreneurial and accomplished development professional focused on expanding the Mandel JCC's culture of philanthropy. The primary role of the Director of Donor Engagement will be to lead the Mandel JCC Annual Campaign, soliciting and stewarding existing and new donors to increase their involvement. Additionally, the Director will assist with other development initiatives across various business areas of The J.
The Director of Donor Engagement will collaborate closely with the development team to nurture current relationships and grow a portfolio of new supporters. Responsibilities will include developing goals and strategies to achieve fundraising targets, which may involve corporate partnerships, as well as meeting with donors and prospective donors to establish and strengthen relationships. This position will also contribute to maintaining a balanced mix of funding sources that support the Mandel JCC's program operations. The Director of Donor Engagement will support fundraising efforts, employing both traditional and innovative approaches to meet and exceed development goals.
Summary:
The Director of Donor Engagement will be responsible for reporting to and working with the Chief Development Officer and the development team to support development and Culture of Philanthropy related activities, agency grant writing proposals, help steward family fund donors and event sponsorship prospects.
Essential Functions: Oversees Data Management and Philanthropy Associate Soliciting philanthropic gifts through outreach efforts that match The J's needs with donor interests and wishes Effective closing skills and a persuasive ability to encourage philanthropic behavior. The ability to work creatively and flexibly in a dynamic environment. Managing donor database and reporting to identify prospective donors through analysis of giving history and interests Working with the marketing department to determine the use of social media to engage new donors Understand JCC programs, goals and financial needs. Developing and maintaining ongoing relationship with area foundations and government funding sources. Maintaining accurate records and providing necessary updated reports to granting sources. Maintaining current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting. Manage annual campaign with support of CDO. Manage Annual Day of Giving at The J event Creation and Implementation of the donor impact report process and program. Manage and data management associate. Serve as a philanthropy culture carrier to help cultivate supportive relationships Participates in meetings as required. Others tasks as required by management. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field. Five to seven years of progressively more responsible experience (including managerial roles) within the development/fundraising arena with an emphasis on annual campaign work and donor relations. Self-motivated and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge and experience in fund raising for non-profit organizations and the Jewish community. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary. Knowledge of grant writing process. Ability to handle confidential financial and personal information with discretion and sensitivity. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team. Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point) Knowledge of Classy, Salesforce (NPSP) preferred but not required.
