Overview

Controls Engineer to work with minimal supervision, responsible for the continuous improvement of plant processes and equipment including design, PLC program changes, equipment upgrades, electrical documentation, uptime improvements, and maintenance expense reduction.

Responsibilities

FUNCTIONS:
•Promotes integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all Team Members, customers & vendors.
•Supports the daily machine uptime and plant operations.
•Possess good trouble shooting skills for electrical and electronic problems related to devicenet, PLC, PLC-Network and AC/DC Drive issues, or Temperature controls.
•Design electrical control systems
•Leading machine improvement and machine up-grade projects
•Design, install, maintain, and modify PLC systems
•Understand and be able to install and troubleshoot AC/DC drives and motors
•Motor control circuits from 480VAC, 208/120VAC, 24VDC, 12VDC. Understand and be able to install and troubleshoot AC/DC drives and motors
•Understand and be able to work with relays, contacts, transformers, motor starters, sensors, switches, etc.
•Technical support and software changes of PLC based equipment
•Assist maintenance supervisors with machinery issues
•Reduce repeat downtime issues on machines
•Assist in start-up of new technology
•Contribute to cost savings ideas and efforts
•Analyze new designs supplied by new machine sales reps
•Regular Attendance is required in accordance with Company attendance policy and procedures.
•Performs tasks or responsibilities as assigned by Management.

Qualifications
•Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience•Experience in modifying, uploading, and downloading programs, design and programming of Manufacturing controls using Allen Bradley, SIEMENS, Operator interface deivces and AC/DC Drives •Experience with DeviceNet, Ethernet & Profibus Network Communication•Strong electrical troubleshooting skills•Project Management experience•Knowledge on how to modify, upload, download, programs on Allen Bradley Panel View, Panel View Plus, and Panel View Plus 6 programs. •Complete knowledge of and ability to design and use relay logic, ladder logic, pneumatic logic and hydraulic logic.•Industrial experience with electrical control systems•Knowledge of Wonder Ware•Ability to write in advanced control system programming •Experience with SQL Server and batch management systems preferred•This position requires some mechanical knowledge of process machinery to support machine improvements and implementation for new equipment •Flexible schedule to support 2nd and 3rd shifts when needed•Ability to work individually and as part of a team•Positive leadership and self-motivation skills.

Working Conditions/Environment

Works in an office and manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read and comprehend, sit, stand, walk, reach, lift, grasp, climb and bend while working in a fast-paced production environment. Must be able to push/pull or lift up to 50 pounds short distances. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and non-toxic industrial waste and scrap. The noise level in the plant is loud.

SLIP-RESISTANT/Steel-toed SHOES, Earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beardnets (if facial hair exists) are required to be worn/used in accordance with company GMP and Safety standards. Condition of these items must be inspected by employee daily and be replaced when no longer providing the optimal protection of the employee.
