Job Description
Responsibilities/Experience/Qualifications:
Primary Responsibilities
Design and Develop Power BI Solutions:
• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to visualize data and provide actionable insights.
• Utilize Power BI features such as Power Query, DAX, and M language to manipulate and transform data for visualization.
• Optimize Power BI solutions for performance and usability, considering factors such as data volume and user requirements.
Data Analysis and Visualization:
• Use statistical methods and data visualization tools to analyze data, identify trends, and patterns.
• Create reports, graphs, and other visualizations to present and explain data to business stakeholders.
• Recommend new tools or technologies that can help streamline data analysis.
Data Management, SQL and Integration:
• Work closely with data engineers and analysts to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Maintain data integration between systems, creating automated data feeds, and structuring data for use by the data warehouse.
• Develop and execute SQL queries to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
• Utilize advanced SQL techniques, including complex queries, stored procedures, and functions, to manipulate and analyze data.
• Work with various database technologies, including T-SQL, PL/SQL, and others, to manage and manipulate data effectively.
Predictive Modeling and Analysis:
• Develop and refine predictive models that can be used to make informed decisions.
• Implement row-level security on data and understand application security layer models in Power BI.
• Hands-on experience in creating and deploying Power BI reports, analytics, and dashboard solutions, including design, development, deployment, data engineering, and data management projects and practices.
• Ability to work with machine learning algorithms to analyze data is a plus.
• Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and translate them into effective Power BI solutions.
• Work with business users and technical teams to research, understand, and document technical specifications.
Continuous Learning and Development:
• Stay updated on the latest Power BI developments, best practices, and emerging trends in data analytics.
• Act as Power BI administration, manage, and troubleshoot premium capacity environment.
• Create, compile, and prepare management reports, graphs, and charts, including highly complex internally developed custom reports utilizing TSQL, Excel, Access, VBA, SSRS, and Power BI.
Adaptability and Team Collaboration:
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a data team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Qualifications
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
• 5+ years of expert-level experience in Power BI development and administration.
• 4+ years of experience in SQL and T-SQL or PL/SQL programming.
• 3+ years of experience working with SSRS reports.
• 8+ years of relevant hands-on experience in the Business Intelligence domain, specializing in data analytics and reporting.
• Proficient in Power BI Desktop, with extensive hands-on experience in creating and deploying Power BI reports, analytics, and dashboard solutions, covering design, development, deployment, data engineering, and data management projects and practices.
• Proficiency in data modeling principles and techniques, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling techniques.
• Knowledgeable about data visualization best practices and design principles.
• Strong analytical skills, capable of utilizing statistical and data analysis tools to interpret data and identify trends and patterns.
• Deep understanding of relational database structures, advanced data concepts, theories, principles, and practices, including experience with various database platforms such as SQL Server, Oracle, Mongo, or No-SQL.
• Excellent communication skills for effectively conveying findings to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and ability to identify patterns in large and complex datasets.
• Preferred certification in Power BI or Tableau, with additional experience in QlikView or Looker considered advantageous.
• Ability to understand the perspectives of both the business and end-users and apply that understanding to solution proposals.
• Proficient in utilizing IT best practices and tools related to application support, implementation, and documentation.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
