The LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) administers and manages activities within a specific area of responsibility. Serves as the subject matter expert and applies gained knowledge to execute, maintain and improve systems, programs, or processes. The LPN, under the direction and supervision of the RN, accomplishes the goals and objectives of the Health Services Program. This position is a part time 0.4 FTE (2 days per week) position.

- Provide nursing care for the health needs of students.
- Administer medications and perform nursing procedures with RN supervision and according to DPS Medication Administration Protocol.
- Respond to medical emergencies in a timely manner.
- Participate in the identification process of children with health needs.
- Follow the healthcare plan (IHP) created by the RN.
- Maintain student records.
- Conducts and coordinates mandated vision and hearing screenings.
- Ensures compliance with related laws and policies, such as reporting suspected child abuse, immunizations, and Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) laws.
- Monitor and report infectious diseases.
- Maintains and submits data for annual and monthly reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Must be a graduate of an approved Practical Nursing Education Program which is regulated by each state board of nursing and possess an LPN license with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
- BLS CPR Certification is required.
- A minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience and/or previous experience as an LPN at a school.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to accurately record, transfer, and present information in an organized manner.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Works collaboratively with others on a team.
- Aptitude for variety and changing expectations in a fast-paced environment with the ability to remain calm in an emergency situation.
- Knowledge of District, county, and state health regulations.
- Ability to meet District standards for physical and mental health.
- Demonstrates respect for children, teenagers, and adults with different systems and beliefs.
- Proficiency with Google Suite.
- Preferred Bilingual skills in Spanish a plus.
- Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
- Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
