Senior Property Damage Appraiser

Multi-state commercial insurance carrier is seeking a qualified Senior Property Damage Appraiser for a position based in their Dallas, TX claims office. As a Senior PD Appraiser, you will collect information from customers, repair facilities, and or third parties to properly assess and evaluate a vehicles damage. Prepares repair estimates or valuations in line with the evaluated damage.
Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:
- Appraises automobile, truck, heavy equipment, or other vehicle damage to determine cost of repair for insurance claim settlement.
- Determines extent of structural, body, mechanical, electrical, or interior damage, upon examination of the vehicle.
- Estimates cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each item of damage, utilizing automated estimating systems as well as standard automotive labor and parts cost and knowledge of automotive repair.
- Establishes Actual Cash Value and or salvage value on non-repairable vehicles.
- Evaluates practicality of repair as opposed to payment of Actual Cash Value of vehicle before accident.
- Prepares insurance forms to indicate repair-cost estimates and recommendations.
- Reviews repair-cost estimates with automobile repair shop to secure agreement on the cost of repairs.
- Occasionally arranges to have damage appraised by another appraiser to resolve disagreement with repair shop on repair cost.
- May secure agreement with automobile repair shop on cost of repair.
- Provides technical support to Claims Examiners on vehicle repair issues.
- Providing exceptional customer service throughout the claims process, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- May occasionally require interacting with parties who express strong emotions or concerns about ongoing inspections or claim resolutions.
- Auto collision repair, auto damage estimating, and/or auto insurance appraiser experience.
- Excellent customer service, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task across technical platforms
- Accountability and Resourcefulness
- Physical agility to allow for stooping, bending, and some physical lifting to adequately evaluate vehicle damage and create repair estimates.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Preferred Skills:
- Motor Vehicle Physical Damage Appraiser License
- CCC One, Audatex and/or Mitchell knowledge
- I-CAR Platinum Certification
- Auto collision repair, auto damage estimating, and/or auto insurance appraiser experience
- 8 plus years of relevant claims experience.
