Job Description

The Position

The Supplier Quality & Development Engineer (SQE) is responsible for driving continuous improvement within our supply chain. The primary focus is to work with our key suppliers to ensure product quality and timely deliveries as well as to develop new suppliers. The SQE will implement and manage continuous improvement programs with our suppliers’ senior and executive management to drive measurable and lasting improvements. The SQE is a data driven position supported by the correct usage of QMS assessment, quality improvement tools, risk assessment, complex project management, and leadership.

Key responsibilities Effectively connect with internal departments to: Validate supplier processes during New Project Developments as well as to solve raised supplier quality claims after project launches.

Design, implement and drive Supplier Development projects.

In participation with suppliers, generate Productivity ideas and drive them to completion.

Drive to solution raised Quality issues and actively participate on the solution of Delivery issues.

Strive for and promote Data Driven approach to problem solving.

Maintain and effectively use the Suppliers Scorecard Process to drive performance improvement.

Sustain the Suppliers Audit Program by: Auditing new suppliers, supporting capacity assessments, Ad-Hoc process audits, etc.

Requirements: Be involved in projects’ early phases, making sure that supplier’s technology & process capabilities are considered into the Design for Manufacturing (DFM).

Ensure that suppliers understand the project’s Critical to Quality (CTQ) parameters. Verify and validate that CTQs are considered in the supplier’s risk assessment and management process (Process Flow Chart, Ctrl. Plan, Work Instructions, etc.)

Complete the qualification of suppliers’ processes.

Manage supplier audits and related Corrective/Preventive Action Plans.

Lead supplier improvement programs acting as mentor for suppliers on improving the Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) rating.

Manage improvement projects to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)

Drive continuous improvement projects applying Lean/Six Sigma approach.

Competencies: Self-directed, confident, analytical-logical thinking and people’s person.

Bachelor’s or master’s on a technical field related to Quality, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering and 5+ years meaningful work experience.

Proven experience on supervising Key suppliers’ performance and driving improvement with suppliers’ senior management teams.

Demonstrated results on improving suppliers manufacturing processes and understanding Integrated

Supply Chain interconnections.

Experienced on handling complex high tech – low volume products and multi-site projects.

Demonstrated understanding and usage of Root Cause Analysis and Problem-Solving techniques.

Experienced on implementing and improving OEE rating.

Experienced on driving Productivity projects at suppliers.

Proven knowledge on establishing and driving Supplier Development Programs

Certified on continuous improvement tools (Lean or Six Sigma certified)

Proven knowledge of ISO9001 standards (certified auditor preferred).

The following skills will be a plus for this position:

Experienced on Cameras and Digital Sensors.

Experienced on PFMEA, APQP or PPAP.
