Technology Support Services (TSS) is the Information Technology unit of the Shoreline Community College, which supports the technology infrastructure and desktop technology needs of the entire organization's business and academic functions. TSS' overall responsibilities include but are not limited to the network and networking infrastructure, desktop and portable device support, database and application development, email and web-based services, data and telecommunications systems, and security and IT related policies.
Essential Job Duties:
Develop, code, test, debug and implement complex interactive and/or dynamic web based and client/server database applications using established standards. Support, maintain and enhance existing web based and desktop client/server database applications. Collaborate with other TSS staff with input from TSS clients in the development, maintenance, and documentation of automated processes, data storage, and development needs of the college. Use the IT ticketing system to identify and troubleshoot issues found within existing systems. Once identified, work with the Senior Developer to debug, test, and implement the solution. Work as a team player, appropriately exhibiting a positive attitude. Direct the preparation of a variety of written correspondence, reports, procedures, ordinances and other materials. Keep current with laws, regulations and technology that may affect application development and support. Perform other duties as assigned (of a similar nature or level).
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
Associate Degree in Computer Science or related field OR equivalent recent experience in technology environment directly related to position. Knowledge Of:
Theories, principles and operational practices of database design, and application development. Database management systems and querying data for applications and reports. Current practices in web-based development. Security practices and principles for maintaining security and data privacy. Knowledge of APIs. Familiarity with C# and Java.
Skill In:
Applying new database/developer skills; continuous learning Learning new technology quickly, executing swiftly and accurately & assisting in transitions. Understanding of the field to perform job duties; may need some guidance on job duties; applies learning to recommend options to address unusual situations. Conditions of Employment
Physical Work Environment:
The College is currently providing services in a mixed modality of operations (both online and in-person services are offered). Administrators are assigned to work on campus, noting there may be some opportunities to work remotely based on program or area needs. If authorized for limited remote work, employees will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. When working on-campus, this position will perform work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment and physically attend meetings both on and off campus, using the ability to communicate in person or through appropriate means. This position also works weekends and evenings when appropriate or needed.
Terms Of Employment/Salary:
This is a full-time administrative/exempt annually contracted position Initial salary placement determined by the College dependent upon education/experience. Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President. Other Conditions:
