SUMMARY The Virtualization Engineer is responsible for design, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, monitoring, and reporting of the enterprise virtualization infrastructure of Churchill Downs Incorporated and its related properties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Ensure the successful and continued operation of the company's compute, storage and hypervisor infrastructure. Deployment and management of physical and virtual server environments. Management of VLANs and other TCP/IP network related concepts that are used in providing solutions. Investigate performance issues and bring to resolution within stated SLAs. Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to operations team and customers upon request. Provide technical expertise (both verbal and written) for Incident and Change Management. Participate in on-call rotation for incident management and escalation. Works appropriate level requests from ticket queue. Works with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues. Gather and maintain data for capacity planning and performance analysis of infrastructure. Stay up to date on emerging technologies and products, including attaining certifications and participation in industry events, as appropriate. Virtualization architecture design, development, and implementation. Ability to work certain night/weekend shifts on an as-needed basis for major infrastructure changes. Perform related duties as assigned. REGULATORY

Ability to obtain racing and/or gaming licenses as required in any jurisdiction where CDI operates. The Gaming industry is highly regulated and as such demands an extensive background check to obtain a license.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

2-year degree in IT/IS or other closely related discipline; may consider experience and certifications for degree requirement. Knowledge and experience of solutions and troubleshooting related to the interoperability of compute (blade hardware, vSphere hypervisor, Windows server OS, and Active Directory), SAN, route/switch network, and cloud connections. 3+ years of experience managing and configuring VMware vSphere, including compute platforms and storage networks. 3+ years of experience working comprehensive projects in VMware environment. 3+ years of experience implementing VLAN technology in an enterprise environment. 3+ years of experience using network analysis, management and performance monitoring tools to plan for growth, diagnose problems and determine root cause. 3+ years writing code, developing scripts or automation for patching, hypervisor management or other administrative actions. Experience working in a CLI environment with PowerShell, Bash or other CLI interpreters. Current VMware certifications are preferred. ITIL or Six Sigma certified preferred. 2+ years of experience configuring, monitoring and managing Cisco UCS platform, Pure Storage, NetApp Storage, F5 Load Balancers, and Cisco WAN/LAN switching & routing products preferred. Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP preferred. Knowledge of Windows and Linux-based platforms. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must. Comfortable in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to manipulate paperwork, including filing, sorting, and organizing. Moving within the office environment to attend meetings, use office equipment, or interact with colleagues. Occasional lifting of office supplies or paperwork (up to 20 pounds). Speaking and listening to colleagues and clients in person, over the phone, or via video conferencing. Working in a climate-controlled office environment with moderate noise levels. Performing repetitive tasks such as data entry or document preparation. Working under artificial lighting conditions typical of an office environment, which may include fluorescent or LED lighting.
