The Project Developer III - Solar will collaborate with the sales, development, design, and operations teams on a day-to-day basis to facilitate the effective implementation of solar and energy storage technologies. Essential Position Functions Assists with project engineering for large portfolio of K-12 commercial, industrial, and government solar, energy storage, and EV projects. Analyzes project constraints, evaluates site conditions, performs constructability due diligence, develops engineering scope of work, determines PV array and electrical equipment locations and trench/bore runs, and identifies interconnection methods. Works with local jurisdictions to implement specific requirements. Performs job walks to gather required site-specific project information including necessary electrical switchgear information, potential areas for solar/storage/EV chargers, and identifies potential issues. Performs analyses of utility rate tariffs and generates annual financial projections for each state in the region and system operators. Optimizes project-specific design deliverables, including solar and battery system sizing, equipment selection, layout configuration using AutoCAD and Google Earth, energy production analysis using Helioscope, and PVSyst to iterate to maximize yield and minimize cost rapidly. Creates and/or manages and submits code-compliant single and three-line diagrams for interconnection applications. Develops complete electrical and structural drawing sets on AutoCAD for permits and construction, including site plans, stringing line diagrams, equipment specifications, conductor and conduit sizing, panel schedules, and bills of material, per AHJ, NEC, and utility requirements and standards. Reviews and analyzes utility pre-screen reports, system impact studies, and interconnection service agreements. Ensures project success through cross-functional collaboration with professional engineers, AHJ plan checkers, project managers, sales, vendors, and accounting, support subcontractors and inspectors on RFIs, and support O&M by evaluating system performance. Collaborates with the construction team to gather and apply lessons learned regarding design optimization, constructability, and bid-level designs. Provides technical support to development, procurement, construction, and O&M departments. Reviews and can create/revise scopes of work for potential subcontractors and understands each trade necessary to ensure a complete estimate and a successful project. Reviews contractual agreements and associated documents and assist in generating language that is mutually beneficial to the client and Veregy. Participates in subcontract exhibit/scope reviews with operations team. Prepares and delivers presentations related to project and policy for DER markets. Develops cost estimates for project implementation including engineering, equipment, subcontractors, project management, O&M costs, and applicable sales taxes. Ensures project scope can achieve the guaranteed savings and performance metrics Veregy is contractually held to. Supports Project Engineers I and II as necessary to help grow the entire team's capabilities. PV system design and engineering required. Experience designing grid-connected PV systems; minimum 1MW of development or design experience across ten or more projects required. Electrical Engineering knowledge and experience required. Proficient in AutoCAD, Helioscope, and PVsyst required. Experience with Bluebeam is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of Veregy's services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge. Knowledge (intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems, software products (e.g. MS Office, etc.). Knowledge of electrical systems and knowledge of NEC code and constructability of said systems. Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time/workload. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, business, professional, and technical documents. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to write presentations, articles, routine reports, proposals, and correspondence. Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and staff. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priorities with end users. Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.
