We are looking for an enthusiastic GIS Technician to join our team. WRA has a dedicated GIS department which works on specialized GIS projects and provides cartographic and analytic support to the other teams within the organization. The ideal candidate will be excited to work on habitat mapping, vegetation mapping, wetland delineation mapping, cartographic production for various WRA client reports, geographic data management, geospatial analysis, and GPS equipment and data management.The GIS Technician will be an active contributor to projects managed by other teams within the organization. They will work closely with team members to complete GIS tasks to support project delivery. They will develop and exercise ownership over all GIS related components of their assigned tasks and projects and use the insights gained to bring value to WRA's project teams.This role will be a hybrid position that will require at least one day in the office each week while providing the opportunity to work from home a majority of the time. Weekly in-office attendance will allow the person in this position to support cross-team collaboration, manage GPS and field equipment, attend meetings, and engage in other key activities. The successful applicant will choose a primary office location in either San Rafael, Emeryville, or Petaluma. There will also be opportunities for the person in this position to accompany field staff and participate in field work in the Bay Area and surrounding regions.In this role, you will:Perform spatial data creation, updates, and maintenance using ArcGIS Pro.Conduct spatial analysis using tools within ArcGIS Pro.Publish and manage online data, maps, and other resources using ArcGIS Online.Follow WRA spatial data management standards and workflows to ensure the production and maintenance of high quality spatial data.Analyze and interpret aerial imagery and other raster data.Design and publish cartographic map products with high attention to detail to support project delivery needs.Process LIDAR data to create high quality topographic datasets and use these to perform spatial analysis.Extract and develop data from a variety of sources including engineering drawings, CAD datasets, topographic maps, and assessor parcel maps.Manage WRA GPS equipment and take a lead role in preparing mobile based GIS resources for field efforts, specifically using ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Field Maps.To be successful in this role, you will need:Bachelor's degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or other related and relevant fields of study.1+ years of post-educational professional experience using Esri ArcGIS Pro. A full time summer internship in a professional GIS setting qualifies.Proficiency in use of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS extensions e.g., 3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst.Familiarity with all spatial data formats, specifically vector and raster datasets.Familiarity with spatial data management best practices.Familiarity with mobile GIS tools such as ArcGIS Field Maps and GPS systems.Familiarity with CAD data formats.Familiarity with Windows file storage formats.Ability to find and use software documentation and training resources to solve issues.Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 Apps.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to commute to various job sites as needed.WRA has an established internal leveling system for our staff that maps to salary bands that have been informed by market data. Our leveling system is dependent on years of relevant industry experience, education, and the level of responsibility and autonomy at which you're expected to operate.We have posted a salary range that corresponds to the appropriate level for this position. In your first conversation with our recruiter, we will discuss leveling and compensation with you to make sure that our expectations are aligned.
