Position Summary
Under the direction of the Central Sterile Processing Department Manager, the Coordinator establishes and enforces standards of instrument processing activities, sterilization, and restocking of products to remote locations. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. Role models appropriate communication skills with staff and other departments, especially in problem resolution Ensures that all products and supplies are handled in a manner consistent with the principles and institutional/departmental policies relating to infection control, sterilizer monitoring, packaging and processing Assists the Manager with quality/continuous improvement activities of the Sterile Processing department to meet regulatory standards of practice. Assists Manager with daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department and prepares work assignments for staff. Assists Manager with managing labor and supply components of the budget. Responsible for maintaining CSIQ Instrument Tracking System Assists Manager in organization functions of the department, conducting annual performance. Participates in the evaluation of staff. Recommends and implements process improvements. Responsible for all daily operations in the absence of the CSPD Manager. Develops educational calendars for all in-service training. Provides education and training to CSPD staff. Performs all other related duties as assigned Education & Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalency required CSPD or CRCST certification required
5 years of relevant experience in Hospital Setting Core Competencies Teamwork, Adaptability Excellent Communication Skills Problem Solving Skills Planning and Organizational Skills Attention to Detail, Problem-solving Skills Judgment and Decision-making Skills Stress Tolerance Ability to Multitask Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment
May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc. Must be able to transport heavy objects and remain in a stationary position for at least 60 minutes in order to perform the outlined job duties properly and safely Must be able to constantly operate department machinery, equipment, devices, etc. 100% of the time. Must have the ability to concentrate for periods greater than 30 minutes frequently with distractions. Must have the ability to follow written and oral instructions Must be able to organize, prioritize and execute multiple tasks Must be flexible and able to adapt to changes in routine. Work requires attention to detail and requires mental/visual acuity. Must have normal sight and hearing. Must have the ability to distinguish between dull and sharpness. Must be able to identify malfunctioning equipment Primary Population Served
