Overview:
Kimley-Horn has a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Strategic Communications Project Manager to join our team in San Jose, CA, to manage various transportation and transit infrastructure projects and programs with an expertise in managing construction and community outreach initiatives. THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have a strategic mindset and a passion for managing diverse community outreach and public involvement efforts. Their focus will include planning and program management of a variety of construction outreach, business mitigation, and community relations efforts. The selected candidate will work with our Senior Outreach & Communications Manager to: Develop and foster meaningful relationships with clients, stakeholders, and the communities we serve. Develop and implement strategic communications and engagement plans that address the needs and include the voices of diverse communities. Manage project outreach activities including managing public engagement, conducting presentations, meeting with community members, businesses, and organizations to explain the project scope, impacts, benefits, mitigations, etc. Collaborate with agencies and municipal clients on complex planning and project delivery challenges. Assist with construction coordination efforts with contractors. Conduct public presentations including community meetings, board meetings, and city council meetings. Perform project management duties such as managing large tasks and projects, performing research, report writing, leading public involvement meetings, and maintaining client relations. Develop schedules, review invoices, manage progress reports, prepare scopes, and track budgets. Mentor and develop staff in an environment that encourages teamwork, initiative, and growth. Qualifications:
A strong passion to provide clients with exceptional service. A minimum of four years of outreach and communications management, with a preference on working on large infrastructure projects. Demonstrated strategic communications project management experience. Direct public facing communication utilizing a variety of mediums including print, video, presentations, social media, and website. Manage the process of concept development, creative writing, and editing of collateral materials, including fact sheets, newsletters, fliers/handouts, advertisements, press releases, public notices, presentations, videos, social media, and website. Coordination with creative staff including graphic design, social media, and website development teams to maintain consistency of brand, messaging, and user experience. Strong organizational skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Experience with public outreach, community engagement, providing presentations to public officials and communication with a variety of community stakeholders and individuals Outgoing, self-motivated team player Ability to work with and balance priorities among multiple fast-paced projects and project managers Preferred: Bachelors Degree in communications, public relations, or marketing AICP accreditation An entrepreneurial spirit Salary Range:
