SAIC is seeking a Solutions Architect in Alexandria, VA supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). This position is remote, with the potential of intermittent local travel in Alexandria, VA. Job Duties: Perform comprehensive systems engineering activities, including the formulation of Concept of Operations (CONOPS), defining, and analyzing system requirements, and leading system architecture design. Responsibilities include conducting system analysis, designing interface and data architectures, and ensuring validation, verification, and seamless system integration. Additionally, manage system operational performance analysis, lifecycle cost estimation, and conduct decision analysis to optimize system functionality and efficiency across its lifecycle. Implement, manage, and maintain cloud environment using orchestration tools to streamline cloud provisioning, database management tasks, and routine maintenance for efficient cloud operations. Design, deploy, manage, and secure cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure, including a wide array of services (VMs, Azure Functions, App Services, Blob Storage, SQL Database, etc.). Lead the containerization of applications and deploy them on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure App Services, ensuring scalability, security, and integration with cloud-native tools. Manage and troubleshoot applications across Linux and Windows environments in Azure cloud, ensuring operational stability and adherence to best practices. Design and implement Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) models to continuously verify identities, devices, and networks in cloud environments. Administer IAM policies and security controls using Microsoft Entra ID, Azure RBAC, and MFA to ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards. Lead cloud environment design, testing, and quality assurance, ensuring that deployments meet compliance and operational efficiency standards through automation. Ensure cloud infrastructure compliance with DoD security standards and guidelines (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP, DISA), including the use of BCAP, VDSS, and VDMS for highly secure environments at Impact Levels 4, 5, and 6. Oversee the migration of on-premises systems to the cloud with a focus on security, scalability, and performance while complying with DoD Cloud Computing policies. Provide hands-on technical leadership for cloud architecture design, maintain comprehensive documentation, and lead knowledge-sharing initiatives to modernize the way our customers architect, deploy, and use cloud technology. Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Bachelors degree and five (5) year of relevant experience; Masters and three (3) years of relevant experience; 4 years of additional experience in lieu of a degree. Required Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance (US Citizenship required). Required Skills: Expertise in using tools such as Azure CLI, ARM Templates, Ansible, Terraform, and Terragrunt. Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in designing, deploying, managing, and securing cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure, with proficiency in services such as Virtual Machines, VM Scale Sets, Azure Functions, Azure AppServices, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Files, Azure SQL Database, Entra ID, Active Directory, ADFS, SAML-based federation, Application Gateways, Azure Load Balancers, Azure Virtual Network (VNet), Azure VPN Gateway, and Azure ExpressRoute. Experience with application containerization and deployment on AKS and Azure AppServices. Proficient in managing cloud deployments on both Linux (Debian, RPM) and Windows environments. Strong understanding and practical experience in implementing Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) in cloud security frameworks. In-depth knowledge of IAM for Azure, including Microsoft Entra ID, Azure RBAC, and MFA for securing cloud resources. Familiarity with DoD and industry security standards (NIST, FedRAMP, DISA), and a thorough understanding of security frameworks (BCAP, VDSS, VDMS) for Impact Levels 4, 5, and 6. Proven experience planning and executing cloud migrations from on-premises systems, with a focus on performance, security, and scalability. Strong leadership skills in cloud architecture design, documentation, and driving knowledge-sharing initiatives across teams.
