Position Summary: DT Institute is seeking a creative and highly collaborative Business Development Manager to write proposals and support the preparation and submission of proposals for the US Government, the EU, the UK, and other bilateral, multilateral, and philanthropic donors. The BD Manager will report to the Proposal Director and is expected to work seamlessly with the rest of the Business Development Team and consultants as well as across all DT Institute departments, especially the finance and technical program teams. The BD Manager is also expected to adhere to DT Institute's unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion wherein every individual is treated with fairness and respect. The Business Development Team is housed within DT Institute's broader Growth and Outreach Team, which comprises three distinct workstreams: business development, philanthropy & partnership engagement, and advocacy engagement. Duties and Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Tracking business development forecasts and funding opportunity announcements and providing input on go/no-go decisions; Supporting the development and implementation of DT Institute's business development strategy and pipeline; Managing weekly pipeline updates; Creating capture plans that strategically assess bids, draw on the organization's available resources, and provide streamlined p-win driven bid plans; Acting as capture manager for Department of State, USAID, and other government funding opportunities, planning and executing capture trips, and managing pre-bid preparations; Supporting the development of proposal packages including proposal calendars, compliance matrices, templates, and proposal documents such as budgets, M&E plans, gender analyses, and other technical materials; Serving as reviewer during gate reviews and color team reviews; Overseeing the compliance of all proposal submissions; Serving as capture manager, proposal manager, technical lead, or a writer on assigned bids or for bids led by colleagues; Developing and cultivating relationships with technical specialists, subject-matter experts, and professional writers to contribute to technical design solutions, review proposals, and provide input on technical business development strategies; and Supporting business development training - including the development of training materials and facilitating training programs. Other Related Duties: Representing DT Institute at conferences, forums, engagements, or meetings as needed; Providing leadership on special projects and in collaboration with the Business Development team, as needed; Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of materials and documents related to Board meetings; and Performing any other duties or tasks as assigned. Education: Bachelor's degree in political science, international relations, international development, anthropology, or related field required. Master's degree in political science, international relations, international development, anthropology, or related field preferred. Minimum Qualifications: 4-6 years of experience in developing new business opportunities, preferably with an international development organization; Demonstrated ability to manage winning proposals for the U.S. State Department, USAID, and other major public sector donors; Excellent, demonstrableverbal andwritten communicationsskills, including experience deliveringformal and informal presentations and drafting and editing deliverables; Experience working remotely in a fast-paced environment with colleagues across various time zones; Experience collaborating with diverse teams; Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and with a team; Strong attention to detail; Good organizational and prioritization skills; Budget development and management skills; Proven experience with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Willingness to travel and work overseas on short term technical assignments up to 15%, sometimes at short notice; and Fluency in English. Preferred Qualifications: Experience living and/or working abroad; Previous team management experience; Language ability in Spanish, French, or Arabic; Experience developing and managing proposals as part of a small team and/or for a small organization; Demonstrated interest and background in conflict and peace building, human rights, and/or media and technology.
