Exciting Opportunities with Share Food Program We are looking for a Chief Development Officer to add to our team Share Food Program ("Share") is the leading hunger relief organization in the Greater Philadelphia region and one of the largest independent food banks in the nation. Food insecurity is a crisis in our communities. The ripple effects of the pandemic, record rates of inflation, and critical cuts to government assistance benefits have plunged even more people into hunger and poverty. Today, Share feeds hundreds of thousands individuals each month-more than half of whom are children and seniors. Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Share Food Program, the Chief Development Officer leads a committed team of development professionals responsible for growing a comprehensive and sustainable fundraising program. The CDO develops and executes the fundraising strategy, securing and growing philanthropic partnerships, ensuring strong donor relations, implementing engagement initiatives, soliciting, and stewarding philanthropic gifts of all sizes. The CDO directs the team in developing annual operating goals and fundraising plans to achieve those goals. During the current "Campaign for Food Justice," the CDO also serves as Campaign Director, overseeing all aspects of the multi-year capital campaign. Core Job Functions and Responsibilities: Supports the mission and work of Share Food Program to lead the fight against food insecurity in the Philadelphia region by serving an expansive, quality partner network of community-based organizations and school districts engaged in food distribution, education and advocacy. Fundraising Leadership Responsibilities Develops, leads, implements, and manages Share Food Program's strategy to inspire and grow philanthropic support. The following specific duties are illustrative: Develops annual fundraising plan with financial targets, tactics, and measurable goals. Works with ED and Chair of Board to engage Board of Directors in fundraising. Attends Board and Board committee meetings as assigned. Staffs the Fundraising Committee, and helps set goals and expectations with Fundraising Committee Chair. Leads and manages team to grow robust annual, mid-level, and major giving programs, foundation giving, corporate sponsorships and partnerships, and public grants program. Provides active oversight for Development disciplines including donor outreach and stewardship, grant writing/reporting, event planning, volunteer involvement, development operations. Leads and manages capital campaigns including conceptualizing, strategizing, and planning fundraising targets and approach, coordinating with consultants, overseeing related events, and executing solicitation, and stewardship. Manages a portfolio of top prospects; nurtures and strengthens relationships with existing donors and identifies and engages new partners to grow donor pipeline, utilizing a moves management approach. Oversees completion of grant applications, case statements, and reports for foundations, corporations, family foundations, etc., in consultation with leadership and program colleagues, and Senior Grants Manager and Director of Corporate Partnerships. Develops strategy for special event fundraising. Plans or participates in implementing other events to represent Share Food Program to various stakeholders. Adheres to donor-centered and ethical fundraising practices. Manages and monitors the activity, performance and outcomes of Development team members, directly supervising the Director of Individual Giving, Director of Corporate Partnerships, and Senior Grants Manager. Serves as point person for volunteer leadership during the campaign providing donor strategy and insight. Oversees the campaign and Development budget and resources. Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication, exceptional interpersonal skills, strategic vision, ability to develop comprehensive fundraising strategies; proven track record with donor solicitation, grant writing, event management, and effective donor relations; demonstrated commitment to the Association of Fundraising Professionals code of ethics; strong management and supervisory skills; highly proficient technology skills including Microsoft Office software; strong affinity for leveraging the role of a CRM/donor database. Education and Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in nonprofit Development, including ongoing fundraising programs and capital campaigns. Comprehensive knowledge of fundraising and related operations. Some planned giving experience preferred. Experience in the human service sector preferred. Other Qualifications: Experience building and/or leading a new team or new fundraising programs. Demonstrated ability to focus on strategic goals and strategies, as well as a commitment to the planning process and the implementation of operating plans. Uses collective and interconnected engagement with team as a method of setting and accomplishing goals. High comfort level with budgeting, budget monitoring, and forecasting. Embraces the opportunity to manage and mentor at the same time. Can be flexible when necessary; always diplomatic. Ability to focus on the long-term vision for donor/funder relationships while meeting near-term milestones. Uses ROI assessments and other data to refine strategies and align resources.
