Job Description:
As a Protection and Controls Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of protection and control systems for substations. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that our projects meet industry standards, client specifications, and are completed on time and within budget. Your expertise will contribute to the reliability and efficiency of electrical power systems that serve communities and industries across the region.
Key Responsibilities: Design and Development:
Develop and implement protection and control schemes for high-voltage substations, including relay settings, control logic, and SCADA systems. Technical Documentation:
Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports. Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and in compliance with applicable standards. Collaboration:
Work closely with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and clients to deliver integrated solutions. Participate in project meetings and provide technical expertise. Quality Assurance:
Conduct site visits and inspections to verify that installations conform to design specifications and safety standards. Address and resolve any technical issues that arise during construction. Innovation:
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices. Apply innovative solutions to improve design efficiency and project outcomes. Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Licenses:
Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) certification or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred; Professional Engineer (PE) license desired but not required. Technical Skills:
Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, CYME). Experience with relay programming and SCADA systems is highly desirable. Knowledge:
Strong understanding of IEEE, NESC, and other relevant standards and codes. Communication:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively present complex technical information to diverse audiences. Problem-Solving:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
