Director of Engineering
located in
Henrico, VA.
Reporting to the
General Manager
the
Director of Engineering
Responsible for working with Engineering Leaders, Manufacturing Operations Management, Product Managers and other Engineering and Operational functional leaders, to lead several Design & Engineering teams involved in the design, validation and implementation of innovative and cost-effective product solutions of varying scope in order to meet customer requirements from development of conceptual prototypes and architecture through development into full-scale production.
What a typical day looks like:
Direct and control the activities of broad functional area through several senior Design & Engineering managers involved in activities such as designing, developing, modifying and evaluating integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and systems. Partner with other leaders to establish objectives and action plans. Ensure the development of Design & Engineering solutions for diversified industry segment covering a wide range of products and volume mixes. Ensure budget, schedules and performance indicators meet corporate guidelines. Provide technical and strategic guidance to subordinate directors to ensure achievement of goals and objectives. Develop and continuously improve people, methods, systems, processes and metrics in a complex and rapidly changing environment to improve customer satisfaction Organize and lead reviews to ensure projects are delivered on time, as per cost targets and within quality specifications Partner with Operations leaders to ensure Engineering & Design activities are well integrated with manufacturing operations including the use of Design for Manufacturability principles. Partner with Sales, customer service and product management to ensure Engineering and design activities represent a competitive advantage and address customer requirements. Implement appropriate HR Strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce. The experience we're looking to add to our team,
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training plus a minimum of 8 years of management experience. A Master's or MBA degree is preferred. Proficiency in PTC software and other relevant design tools ( AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor). Proven experience in product rationalization and configuration, particularly in engineering-to-order environment. Experience with complex assembly products, including electrical and mechanical designs. Strong Leadership skills. What you'll receive for the great work you provide:
