Come join a growing multidisciplinary team of designers and engineers designing the next generation nuclear power plant. The Mechanical Design Engineer designs mechanical and structural components of buildings and systems within the power plant. The designs will support engineering and licensing requirements, leading to the licensing and construction of the first next generation plant. The Engineer must be eager to learn new skills to create feasible/practical solutions to challenging design problems. The Engineer will be part of a team executing a U.S. Government cost-shared development program requiring efficient completion of engineering assignments.

Specific Areas of Responsibility:
Execute mechanical design activities: CAD, design for manufacturability, engineering analyses, and technical documentation. Review available, or create, concept designs based on an ambiguous set of requirements and develop them into mature designs by critical thinking, literature research, interacting with team members from other disciplines and vendors, and any analysis as permitted by project milestones. Develop technical documentation, obtain vendor inputs, and verify design concepts. Support the preparation of design deliverables, presentations, and communicate design progress in stakeholder meetings. Support development of engineering and licensing requirements and documentation for nuclear systems and components. Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
BS in chemical, mechanical, nuclear, or closely related field of engineering. Strong academic background in mechanical or structural engineering. 5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area. Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Excellent attention to detail and capable of producing error-free documents. Strong math, analytical, problem-solving, and computer skills. Experience with a computer aided design software. Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810. Optional Additional Qualifications:
MS in chemical, mechanical, nuclear, or closely related field of engineering. >5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Industry experience designing/fabricating heat exchangers, piping, valves, pumps, and ASME components. Industry experience using FEA simulation to support product development. Experience working with engineers and fabricators to develop designs and drawings. Experience using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and SmartPlant software suites. Experience in commercial nuclear or naval nuclear design. Knowledge of U.S. Nuclear Regulations and Guidance from 10 CFR 50; 10 CFR 52; NUREG-0800 Chapters 3, 4, 5, and 6; and nuclear quality assurance.
