Engineering Tech. Work Schedule: Onsite - Buffalo, NY Moog Military Aircraft Group is the world-wide leader of advanced flight controls and actuation for military aircraft. We are positioned on virtually every aircraft flying today, supplying highly reliable systems that are supportable and add significant value for our customers. Manufacturing Engineer Moog is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer, CNC Mill - 5 Axis to develop and support the Complex Milling group in our machine shop. In this role, you will support the development of new product/development processes, as well as apply new manufacturing technologies to existing or mature production programs. This position is located at our corporate headquarters in East Aurora, NY. Responsibilities: Support and develop CNC Mill machining processes; support new and existing CNC Mills and other machines. Prepare detailed manufacturing instructions and programming data to produce machined parts and sub-assemblies to meet engineering drawings and specifications. Determine manufacturing procedures and operation sequencing; and establish tooling, gauging, and machine requirements to fabricate parts and sub-assemblies for various products. Spend time in the production shops solving problems and improving processes associated with the parts you are responsible for. These problems may arise for any number of reasons such as tooling, machine tool, gauging, heat treating, and plating. Work effectively with a variety of people and the initiative to contact other groups when a problem solution so requires. Support timely and efficient processing of parts through the shop by generating operation sheets and manufacturing procedures on assigned parts. Assure compatibility of engineering drawings and specifications with manufacturing and fabrication capabilities by reviewing drawings and making suggestions for changes and revisions to enhance producibility. Provide accurate and useable N/C programming tapes by converting detailed N/C program outlines into specific coded machine instructions. Also assisting machinists with program prove out. Establish standard times for setup and run of each operation on assigned parts. Originate studies directed towards more efficient manufacturing of parts. This includes recommendations for changes in equipment, processes methods, materials, and designs. Follow up on jobs during the initial stage of manufacturing to ensure processing; effect revisions to tooling and processing as necessary. Consult with the Manufacturing Engineering Group Leader in resolving processing details on more complex parts. Prepare rework operation sheets for salvage of discrepant parts. Follow through with corrective action to reduce the possibility of reoccurrence of discrepant parts. Establish tooling, gaging, and fixture concepts. Review and approve tool, gaging, and fixture design drawings. Estimate hours required to design and also fabricate tools and fixtures. Prepare detailed operation sheets and N/C programs, making estimates of setup, and run hours for production parts; estimate design and build hours for tooling. Assist Group Leader to prepare cost estimates for new proposals. Technically guide or train Associate Manufacturing Engineers. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree with 3 years of Manufacturing Engineering or Manufacturing Technician experience (see below for substitute education/experience qualifications for the BA/BS degree) OR associate degree with 6 years of Manufacturing Engineering or Manufacturing Technician experience OR High School diploma/GED with 8 years of Manufacturing Engineering or Manufacturing Technician experience Experience implementing and supporting CNC Milling Machining applications such as multi-axis vertical or horizontal machining centers Preferred Qualifications: Experience programming, setting up, running, and troubleshooting complex machining processes on multiaxial/multifunction CNC machines including 5-axis Mill machines (strongly preferred) Experience with Okuma 5-Axis Mill Machines Prefer that the Bachelor's Degree is in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering Experience in the aerospace industry Experience with machine automation integration Experience with inspection of machined parts Experience machining stainless steel, titanium, and aluminum materials Experience with CNC Programming utilizing Siemens NX software Experience with lean manufacturing principles; Lean Six Sigma certification Salary Range Transparency: Buffalo, NY $75,000.00-$115,000.00 Annually Salary Range Disclaimer The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
