PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
This is a temporary skilled labor position in any of the following trade areas: electrical repair and maintenance, mechanical repair and maintenance, plumbing repair and maintenance, carpentry and construction projects, turf management, athletic field restoration, and facility development projects.
Work involves responsibility for performing skilled tasks in accordance with standard practices of the trade. Work may require independent judgment depending on the specific assignment area. Assignments are received in the form of oral and written instructions, and frequently accompanied by sketches or blueprints. Work is reviewed by a supervisor for compliance with specifications and standards.
Up to 40 hours per week; hours generally follow a 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. schedule.
Seasonal employment not to exceed 120 days. Various assignments; rate of pay determined by experience and assignment.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Depending on the specific assignment area:
Completion of high school or the equivalent; and 5 years experience in any of the trade areas named above or completion of an approved apprenticeship; and a combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills:

This "Non Tested" position may be General or Special Funds.
This Seasonal position is not eligible to receive medical benefits, vacation pay, sick pay, union membership, or union contractual benefits. Any period of Seasonal employment will not be construed in any way to mean probationary employment. Persons may not be employed in two concurrent positions with the City and/or the Board of Education at the same time.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of: (1) a pre-employment background check,and (2) a pre-employment drug screening in accordance with the City's Drug Free Workplace Policy*. - Installs athletic fields and/or performs renovation of sod, seedbeds, and athletic field areas.
- Repairs mechanical equipment including small engines, and performs welding repair and fabrication.
- Performs vehicle maintenance.
- Operates equipment such as hand tools, circular saw, welding torches, top dressing machine, turf maintenance equipment, drill press, blade sharpener, and other tools of the trades.
- Performs building construction-type tasks such as roof repair, installation of doors and windows, and other related tasks.
- Performs installation and repair of electrical systems.
- Performs plumbing and heating installations and repair.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

- Ability to work from sketches and plans, and to understand and effectively follow oral and written instructions is necessary.
