Role: VSP - Data Analyst 4 - Hybrid
Location: 7700 Midlothian Tpke, North Chesterfield, VA
VSP is seeking a skilled Data Analyst to join our team and play a crucial role in the Data Strategy project for establishing an enterprise data solution at Virginia State Police. As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for overseeing our data systems and reporting frameworks, guaranteeing the integrity and precision of data. You will transform raw data into structured information, which will then be analyzed to glean insights that drive strategic business decisions. This position encompasses a comprehensive analysis lifecycle, covering requirement gathering, activity execution, design planning, assessing master data set and complex data systems developing reports, troubleshooting data issues, and providing technical expertise in datas torage structures, data mining, data cleansing and supporting ad-hoc requests related to data migration.
Responsibilities: Collaborate with internal and external teams to understand data needs and objectives. Gather data from primary and secondary sources, ensuring the upkeep of databases and data systems. Detect, examine ,and decode trends or patterns within intricate datasets. Extract, clean, and transform data from diverse sources for analysis. Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies. Examine data quality, applications, and functions to ensure accurate migration. Cleanse data and scrutinize computer-generated reports and outputs to identify and rectify coding errors. Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets. Generate visualizations and reports for stakeholders and collaborate with the management team to determine and rank the needs of different business units. Partner with engineering and product development teams to understand business requirements. Employ statistical techniques to scrutinize data and produce actionable business insights. Engage with SMEs of various departments to specify data requirements for analysis projects tailored to their unique business processes.
Qualifications: Proven experience as a Data Analyst or related role. Technical expertise regarding data models, database design, data mining, and segmentation techniques. Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages and databases (SQL, etc.). Proficient in programming languages(Python, R, etc.). Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings. Capable of critically evaluating data to derive meaningful, actionable insights. Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Microsoft Excel. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science).
