Role Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Development and Grant Director is a key member of NAICA's team, responsible for driving the organization's fundraising and grant acquisition efforts. This position will focus on identifying, securing, and managing grants that align with NAICA's mission and programs, while also seeking funding for new initiatives that align with strategic goals. Additional responsibilities include cultivating relationships with funders, meeting quarterly fundraising targets, and acting as the interface for new projects to ensure effective collaboration across departments. The ideal candidate will have a passion for NAICA's mission, a strong understanding of the nonprofit landscape, and proven experience in grant writing, donor relations, and strategic planning.

Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties

:

Grant Prospecting and Acquisition Identify, research, and prioritize potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources that align with NAICA's mission and current program areas. Prospect grants that support new initiatives aligned with NAICA's strategic planning and growth goals. Develop and manage a grants calendar to ensure timely and proactive submission of applications and renewal requests. Collaborate with program directors and leadership to understand funding needs, outcomes, and impact metrics that resonate with potential funders. Capacity Building

Lead initiatives to strengthen the organization's fundraising capabilities and broaden the resource base. Develop strategies to build sustainable funding sources, enhance program impact, and increase service delivery capacity. Foster relationships with funders, partners, and stakeholders to support long-term growth and organizational resilience. Operational Experience

Utilize proven experience in grant management and development operations to streamline processes and enhance efficiency. Oversee grant application processes, compliance requirements, and post-award management to ensure operational excellence. Guide the team in best practices for grant development, reporting, and financial oversight. Demonstrated Success in Growing an Operating Budget

Provide proof of successful outcomes that demonstrate the ability to grow an organization's operating budget. Share specific examples of securing increased funding, expanding donor contributions, and achieving measurable financial growth through strategic development efforts. Grant Writing and Management

Write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of intent, and reports, ensuring compliance with all funder requirements. Manage the grant lifecycle from initial application through to reporting, including budget oversight, tracking deliverables, and evaluating project performance to meet funder expectations. Develop and maintain a library of materials required for grant submissions, such as organizational documents, impact data, and case studies, to streamline the proposal process. Fundraising and Development Strategy

Create and execute an annual development plan that aligns with NAICA's strategic priorities and funding goals, with a focus on meeting quarterly fundraising targets. Cultivate relationships with key donors and funders, including foundation staff, government officials, and corporate partners, to deepen engagement and secure funding support. Organize and oversee fundraising events, donor engagement activities, and appeals in collaboration with the leadership team to increase NAICA's donor base and diversify revenue streams. New Project Interface and Departmental Collaboration

Serve as the primary interface for all new projects, facilitating effective communication and collaboration among relevant departments. Ensure that each department is aligned and informed on project goals, timelines, and responsibilities to optimize project success. Work with the CFO, COO and CEO to integrate new initiatives with existing operations and identify cross-departmental resources for project implementation. Data Management and Reporting

Oversee accurate tracking of grant-related data, including funding sources, application status, and report deadlines using NAICA's CRM or grants management system. Regularly report on development activities, progress towards funding goals, and donor/funder engagement efforts to the CFO, COO and CEO. Work with finance and program staff to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with grant terms and regulations. Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Must be able to travel to multiple NYC sites as needed. Qualifications

:

Must be a NYC resident. Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English for administrative purposes. Must pass drug screening to be appointed. This position may be subject to a series of investigations before and after appointment. Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Public Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, and development, preferably within the nonprofit or social services sector with demonstrated success. Preferred Skills

Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives that convey NAICA's mission and impact. Demonstrated success in securing grants from government sources, foundations, and corporations. Knowledge of donor cultivation, stewardship, and CRM/database management for tracking donor information and grant status. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders. Proven organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects effectively. Passionate about NAICA's mission and a commitment to improving housing and support services for homeless and vulnerable populations.
