Job Description
Akkodis is seeking a Data Warehouse Developer for a client in Rochester, NY. This is a hybrid role where the person will work onsite and remotely, so the person needs to live within 50 miles of Rochester, NY. No C2C or agencies for this role.
Rate Range: $50.00/hour to $54.00/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
TheData Warehouse Developerresponsibilities includedesigning and creating the data warehouse and all related extraction, transformation and load of data functions in the company. This means that theData Warehouse Developerneeds to be able to read, analyze and digest what a business wants to accomplish with its data, and design the best possible ETL process and Data Model around those goals.Candidates must have an advanced knowledge of relational databases, data querying constructs and strong data modeling skills. Database designs take on many forms, including Dimension models and Data Vault models.TheData Warehouse Developerwill work in a team with other Architects, ETL, BI and Database developers.
Responsibilities:
· Translate business requirements into technical code.
· Design and implement scalable and appropriately normalized models depending on the database layer of the data warehouse framework implements.
· Understand the various layers of the data warehouse and how data flows between them.
· Design and develop scalable and dynamic ETL code using SSIS/T-SQL and other modeling tools and technologies that requires little overhead with the passing of time.
· Develop stored procedures that reflect business rules and properly handling transaction committing failures.
· Identify and test for bugs and bottlenecks in the ETL code in order to deploy the most performant code.
· Mindful of data quality and timeliness of data availability in the data warehouse.
· Work with other Architects, ETL, BI and Database developers to deliver the business the requested data warehouse solutions.
· Worked on Azure data factory to create data transformations and data pipelines to transform the data from Flat file/blob storage to Azure SQL Database.
· Working with cloud computing technologies such as: Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, Hadoop, Microsoft Azure, and Databricks.
Required Skills and Experience:
· Proficiency with SQL Server, T-SQL and writing stored procedures.
· Proficiency with SSIS and the SSIS Catalog.
· Dimensional modeling experience.
· Data Vault modeling experience.
· Able to understand various layers of the data warehouse and how data flows between them.
· Experience designing and building complete ETL/SSIS processes moving and transforming data for Data Warehousing including Data Marts and Data Vaults.
· Proficient in how to deploy to and debug a production SSIS environment.
· Experience with versioning control tools like Git.
· Experience with agile methodologies and DevOps tools.
· Experience in identification of data quality.
· Experience in query optimization.
· Familiarity with scripting languages like PowerShell.
· Knowledge of C# is a plus.
· Experience with any Data Vault automation tool like Wherescape is a plus.
· Experience with Azure cloud services like ADF and logic app is a plus.
Required Education and/or Credentials:
· BE or BS degree in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
· 3-5 years of experience as aData Warehouse Developerwith strong understanding of data warehousing architectures, theories, principles, and practices.
· 3-5 years of experience with SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS
· Some scripting experience using C# and PowerShell preferred.
