Business Intelligence Solutions/Data Warehouse Architect

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Business Intelligence Solutions/Data Warehouse Architect will be to provide thought leadership and end-to-end solution architecture & design of large scale business intelligence/data warehouse solution for the Office of School Support Services (OSSS).

Key Responsibilities:

1. Participate in proposing, designing, and implementing solutions following best practices of business intelligence/data warehouse solution architecture, standards, methodology, and tools.
2. Develop standards for data governance programs.
3. Work with the database support team to build an inventory of data needed to implement the architecture.
4. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge in data modeling (logical and physical) and create data models.
5. Utilize agile development methodologies while balancing immediate needs with long-term solutions.
6. Ensure architectural requirements like scalability, security, performance, reliability, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity are implemented within solutions.
7. Liaise with senior client executives to provide in-depth technical needs analysis and advise solution teams on database configuration/design and utilization.
8. Present and implement solutions and recommendations, seen as leading edge in the industry.
9. Support vendor implementations in various systems and solutions from multiple vendors and NYC Agencies.

Mandatory Experience/Skills:

1. 8+ years experience with SQL Server based Business Intelligence solutions.
2. 8+ years of Data Warehousing solution architecting experience.
3. 4+ years experience in a solution architect or development lead role in a data warehousing environment.
4. 4+ years of experience with enterprise application integration software.
5. 4+ years of Business Intelligence Solution developer and ETL developer experience.
6. 4+ years of working on Data governance initiatives.
7. Expertise in developing and delivering documents that communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical teams.
8. Identify technical and operational risks early and provide mitigation plans and strategies.

Preferred Skills:

1. Understanding of DW Implementation services to assist Application Development and Infrastructure teams in defining the scope of work and effort estimates.
2. Ability to translate business requirements and conceptual models into technical requirements.
3. Experience in documenting and/or creating Logical and Physical database designs including source to target data mapping and ETL processes.
4. Partner with Business Intelligence Team to conduct workshops and co-lead teams to conduct POCs.
5. Design and develop data warehouse solutions and lead the technical DW team for successful deliveries.
6. Articulate the benefits of the Data Warehouse and communicate advantages of DW and BI to senior decision-makers.
7. Assist in preparing responses to Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs).
