The primary job function of the Engineering Product Specialist – Tunnel Pasteurizers & Bottle Washer is to design and support KHS equipment for bottle washer, tunnel pasteurizer, warmers, re-coolers and create washers. The Engineering Specialist will work closely with customers and project management colleagues in planning or tunnel pasteurizers in complete lines, preparing customer presentations and supporting KHS equipment that has been deployed to the field.
Your Responsibilities:
- Works closely with design team of equipment that moves and processes fluids through a beverage or food system from raw ingredients to final packaging applying knowledge of mechanical and chemical engineering; involves heating, cooling, blending with gases and other materials, and filling into a container.
- Machine design and creation of technical data and specifications taking into account thermodynamic calculations for the products bottle cleaning machines, tunnel pasteurizers, warmers, coolers and crate washers.
- Technical layout and risk assessment as well as order clarification
- Reads and interprets technical drawings, schematics, process flow diagrams and computer-generated reports.
- Determines the appropriate third-party components appropriate for the application such as pumps, valves, heat exchangers, instrumentation; designs and/or integrates the components for complex processing systems, involving pipes, fittings, components and tanks to Food & Drug Administration requirements.
- Follows KHS USA processes and procedures to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications; integrates European and American standards.
- Interacts with production to verify and test equipment; provides technical assistance and support to sales, service, and purchasing as directed; supports parts sales by identifying correct replacement parts.
- Prior to shipment, verifies performance of equipment to meet customer needs.
- Troubleshoots performance issues in the field with field service and the customer’s technical representatives; analyzes KHS components, determines if equipment is functioning properly; takes action needed to ensure proper functioning.
- May use computer aided design tools to review drawings, using the enterprise resource planning system to maintain Bill of Materials, processing Engineering Change Orders and maintaining drawing database.
Your Profile:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
- At least three years’ experience in engineering processing equipment in a food or beverage packaging/processing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Mastery of MS Office applications
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency within reasonable period of time in KHS USA ERP system
- Proficiency in dimensioning mechanical parts and assemblies in AutoCAD, Solidworks or equivalent CADD applications.
- Proficiency with material sciences and basic electrical systems. Familiarity with ERP systems, such as SAP is desired.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
- Valid Passport and driver’s license are required.
