Youth Sports Director – YMCA Silver Spring

As our Youth Sports Director, you’ll be the MVP leading the charge in creating an amazing sports environment for children aged 3 and up. Your role will be all about fun, growth, and ensuring that every young athlete feels like a champion. Here’s how you’ll make the magic happen:

Exciting Responsibilities You'll Have as the Youth Sports Director:

Design & Deliver Awesome Programs:

  1. Create exciting sports programs for kids of all skill levels – from the energetic 3-year-olds to the budding stars in their teens.
  2. Plan and schedule a variety of sports activities, including soccer, basketball, gymnastics, and more.
Lead & Inspire:
  1. Recruit, train, and cheer on our team of coaches and volunteers, ensuring they bring enthusiasm and expertise to every session.
  2. Be a role model and mentor, encouraging kids to have fun, stay active, and develop their skills.
Be the Community Connector:
  1. Engage with parents, participants, and community members, keeping everyone informed and excited about our sports offerings.
  2. Promote our programs through fun events, social media, and community outreach.
Champion Safety & Excellence:
  1. Ensure all activities are safe, inclusive, and align with YMCA values.
  2. Maintain organized records, manage program budgets, and always look for ways to improve our sports programs.
Grow & Innovate:
  1. Keep up with the latest in youth sports trends and bring fresh ideas to our programs.
  2. Seek out new opportunities for partnerships and sponsorships to enhance our offerings.
Qualifications and Skills:We seek a leader with values that align with the Y’s mission:
  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Education, or a related field OR 4 plus years of experience in youth sports or program management.
  2. Knowledge of youth sports issues, instruction practice, program creation and facilitation, and community outreach.
  3. A natural leader with fantastic communication and organizational skills.
  4. Someone who’s energetic, creative, and ready to bring the fun every day.
  5. CPR and First Aid certification (or willing to obtain).
  6. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
