TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PICU RN in Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46845 About The Position Job Title: Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Pediatrics/PICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12.5 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in Pediatrics AND PICU License: Compact or State RN license Certifications: BLS through AHA, PALS required Must-Have: EPIC experience, experience in a Level 2 Trauma center with 400 bed facility Description: We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nurse for a contract position. The RN will care for pediatric patients ranging from 3 days to 18 years of age. Responsibilities include managing common childhood illnesses, including those caused by COVID-19. The nurse should possess a solid knowledge base for pediatric care at all levels, including trauma, respiratory issues, and general surgical care. The PICU unit involves handling respiratory cases, traumas, and seizures. The nurse will utilize equipment such as EPIC and Pyxis for computerized charting and medication management. The candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of recent experience in both Pediatrics and PICU and proficient IV skills are a plus. Nurses will work three 12-hour shifts per week with possibilities for weekend shifts. Floating to other units, such as NICU, may be required. The pediatric unit comprises 28 beds, while the PICU consists of 7 beds. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 in Pediatrics and 1:2 in PICU. The dress code requires Caribbean blue scrubs. Orientation will begin with general training followed by 24 hours on the floor with a preceptor.
