Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking for a Operations Manager.You will be responsible for leading the Operations teams within our plant and have the availability to support off shift production as required.The Operations Manager will be our on-site operations expert with knowledge and ability to guide and train all operations personnel both direct and indirect in office and shop floor.Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in a make-to-order manufacturing environment required. Experience with various manufacturing techniques are required (welding, swaging, presses, brakes, shears, etc.). Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a requirement.

What you'll do:

  • Design, develop and implement the Atkore Business System, Lean Daily Management and Strategy Deployment Process.
  • Drive Atkore's Lean Excellence strategy. Operational leadership, resulting in successful safe work environment, exceptional quality and delivery performance with lower lead times and less inventory, and at lower operating costs. (SQDC)
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements. Site lead for ALL regulatory compliance issues.
  • Develop and coach team members with necessary skills to identify problems and challenges, perform root cause analyses and implement countermeasures, solutions, and standard work as necessary.
  • Develop and manage all personnel in the value stream including production personnel, scheduling, purchasing, QC, maintenance, engineering, safety, shipping, logistics, and other. Personnel development to include performance assessment, attendance management, professional development, etc.
  • Perform forecasting and budgeting as required working closely with finance to ensure product costing is accurate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Work closely with HR to lead union contract negotiations, ensure work rules are being followed and any deviation is being properly documented.

What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/operations management preferred or equivalent combination of work experience.
  • Seven to ten years of management/supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Including increasing responsibility and leadership of projects and teams of considerable size, scope, and complexity.
  • Management/supervisory experience in a union manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong Lean manufacturing background and the passion to grow your lean experience. Proven track record of Lean accomplishments as well as cost out and process improvements.
  • Experience and background in accounting, human resources, inventory control and strategic planning preferred but not required.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft applications, and ability to analyze information and create reports.
  • Experience with JD Edwards or any other ERP is a plus.

  • Take full ownership of Lean Daily Management, including Daily Gemba Walks, KPI and LDM boards.
  • Fully understand how you and your team impacts Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
Within 12-months, you'll:
  • Be managing an efficient team that delivers Atkore's strategy.
  • Have meaningful performance conversations with your direct reports.
  • Drive Lean Excellence strategy for your Production Departments. Develop strategies and implement projects to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
