President/CEO
on behalf of our exceptional client, Cardea, a national nonprofit organization that addresses complex program, policy, and systems issues by co-creating solutions that center community strengths and wisdom.
This exciting, full-time opportunity is hybrid,
with offices in Seattle, Washington; Austin, Texas; and Oakland, California. Candidates residing in one of these locations to allow for hybrid working environments is preferred!

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The President/CEO provides strategic vision and organizational leadership for Cardea, ensuring that staff, operations, and systems related to financial strategy, business development, and programmatic work align with Cardea's vision, mission, and values. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President/CEO oversees the Leadership Team, working collaboratively with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Impact Officer (CIO), Chief Program Officer (CPO), and Chief Strategy Officer (CSO).
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Vision and Organizational Leadership
Lead the development and implementation of a strategic vision and adaptive plan in partnership with the Board of Directors; aligning staff, operations, and systems to support Cardea's mission, vision, and values. Collaborate with the Board of Directors and CFO to design and implement a financial strategy that ensures Cardea's stability and sustainability, while making strategic investments to meet current and future needs. Govern business development strategy, including cultivating relationships with funders and key partners and developing and evaluating new business models. Lead the creation and oversee implementation of processes, policies, procedures, and practices that are aligned with Cardea's vision, mission, and values. Establish key performance indicators and communicate Cardea's impact to the Board of Directors, staff, and external partners. Manage the organization's daily operations, ensuring high-quality programming and work while managing current and future growth. Supervise and support the CFO, CIO, CPO, and CSO and contribute to supporting the growth and development of Senior Directors and other key administrative staff. Foster a culture of creativity and teamwork throughout the Cardea team.
External Relations
Build and cultivate meaningful, strategic partnerships that drive Cardea's growth and development. Offer visionary leadership for policy and communications initiatives. Represent Cardea at key conferences and meetings including meetings with current and potential partners to support business development, programming, and policy and communications.
Board Relations
Foster a robust professional partnership with the Cardea Board of Directors, ensuring transparent communication on Cardea's financial health, business development, and programmatic progress. Assist the Board of Directors in fulfilling its fiduciary responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
8+ years of experience as an executive leader. Masters degree or equivalent in public administration, public health, social work, or related field. Substantial experience leading an organization and team that deeply centers equity and justice. Extensive experience in co-developing and executing a financial strategy for an organization with an annual budget of $8 to $10M. Proven history of securing funding from federal, Indigenous, national, state, and local partners, as well as from foundations and private sector collaborators. Demonstrated experience in supervising and supporting a C-Suite/executive-level team. Significant experience supporting and reporting to a Board of Directors. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in social impact evaluation, policy advancement, capacity development, and/or professional learning in areas including, but not limited to 1) education, youth, and families; 2) health and well-being; 3) economic well-being; and/or 4) equity and justice. Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, with colleagues, clients, and partners.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
In addition to a competitive base salary of $150,000 to $200,000, Cardea offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision experience; 401(K) retirement; life, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), and short-/long-term disability insurance; employee assistance program (EAP); flexible spending account (FSA), dependent daycare spending account (DFSA); pet insurance; travel assistance; and wellness, pediatric, commuter/transit, and voluntary benefits.
