We are seeking a
Senior Protection and Control Engineer
to design substation protection and control projects for electric utilities across a voltage range from 12kV to 500kV. This dynamic position offers an exciting entry into the rapidly evolving power systems industry, including insights into the integration of renewable energy generation into the electric grid. Candidates will leverage their expertise in digital logic design and AC/DC circuits to create impactful substation projects. *Remote Work Opportunities Available for Candidates in Specific States. career advancement and growth including: Engineer in Training Certificate (EIT) Professional Engineer License (PE) Project Management Professional (PMP) Technical and Non-Technical Training Opportunities Leadership Development Mentorship and Training Programs Opportunities to Lead and Inspire a Dynamic Team What You Will Experience: Collaboration with Local Clients Engagement with Utility Clients Nationwide Diverse Project Types, from Distribution to Transmission Levels Electrical Power Calculations Collaboration Across Multiple Disciplines (Substation, Telecom, Civil Structural, etc.) Key Responsibilities: Design relay one-line diagrams Create three-line AC schematic designs Develop DC protection schematics Design panel layouts and wiring Generate Bills of Materials based on design specifications Conduct Quality Control Reviews on wiring designs Provide full lifecycle project support from initiation to implementation Offer construction support Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Safety Code Implement client standards in the design process Collaborate with designers and drafters to produce necessary drawings We prioritize safety and quality, and successful candidates will adhere to project scopes, schedules, and budgets. You will be a part of a skilled team of engineers, designers, and CAD technicians. What Sets You Apart: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field with over four years of experience in substation protection control design and/or field testing/commissioning. Proven track record in executing substation protection and control projects. Exceptional communication skills for effective interaction with teams and clients. Proficiency in reading and designing protection and control drawings. Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines. A collaborative leader with a proactive approach. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. High-level computer proficiency. Willingness to travel to project or client sites. Additional Qualifications You Might Have: US Citizenship and ability to pass a DOE background check Engineer Intern (EI or EIT) certification Professional Engineer (PE) license Experience performing quality control on substation design projects Familiarity with CAD tools Master's degree in a related field Field testing and commissioning experience About Leidos: Leidos stands out as a trusted, technology-focused solutions provider.
