About the Job As an Import Forwarding Agent, you will play a key role in coordinating customer booking requests, setting up new shippers, and managing import/export documentation to meet international trade regulations. You'll deliver exceptional service by ensuring timely and efficient shipment processing, facilitating smooth movement of freight/cargo. Responsibilities: Deliver exceptional customer service by building strong relationships with customers' front-line teams across various divisions. Prepare, analyze, and submit accurate documentation to agents, clients, and authorities in compliance with relevant transportation laws and regulations. Identify and resolve potential delays that may impact the timely release or movement of freight. Maintain relationships with correspondent brokers, T&B, and other service providers to exceed customer service expectations. Resolve banking and letter of credit issues and advise customers on payment terms. Manage billing issues, ensuring accurate invoicing and vendor payments. Input or correct data in computer systems accurately. Develop competitive rates and provide quotes for freight movement. Resolve billing concerns on behalf of customers and generate special reports as needed. Track and trace shipments, updating milestones and managing exceptions. Coordinate shipments, including oversized and hazardous material (Hazmat) shipments. Engage with clients regarding billing disputes, shipment statuses, new lane development, and service improvements. Dispatch carriers to pick-up locations and distribution centers. Perform all other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma/GED. Proficiency in computer applications. Strong organizational, customer service, and communication skills. Familiarity with freight forwarding or logistics. Working knowledge of air export regulations, export classification, and DOT regulations. Understanding of international trade banking requirements. Knowledge of dangerous goods shipping regulations. Familiarity with metric conversions and currency evaluations. Minimum of 1 year of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or related field. Preferred Qualifications: 1+ year of experience in freight forwarding with a focus on air export regulations. Proficiency in CargoWise software. Excellent computer skills.
