Job Goal: To provide students with disabilities, who qualify for supports and services, physical therapy.

Job Qualifications: Applicants must meet State of Delaware license requirements as a Physical Therapist. Prior experience working in a school system, preferred. Experience working with students with a range of disabilities including autism and intellectual disabilities. Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills. Ability to prioritize an organized schedule. Essential Functions:

Provide direct (individual and group) and indirect (consult) services related to functional mobility, gross motor, positioning, strength, range of motion, muscle tone, daily living needs, etc., as identified in the IEP/504 plan. Assess students using appropriate evaluation tools including standardized tests, clinical observations, and review of medical and educational reports to determine if there is an educationally relevant need for physical therapy. Write assessment reports identifying the student's needs and propose treatment strategies. Develop IEP goals and treatment plans, as part of a collaborative team. Attend and participate in IEP meetings. Identify specialized equipment and tools to support students and obtain quotes for purchase, when needed. Consult with staff and deliver services using a variety of assistive technology and positioning equipment. Maintain data collection related to physical therapy goals. Conduct student observations and provide strategies to facilitate the student's full participation. Reduce barriers that limit student participation within the school environment. Utilize assistive technology to support student success. Develop benchmarks and annual goals to be part of the IEP and complete progress monitoring and reporting. Complete necessary documentation for Medicaid Cost Recovery. Comply with policies, regulations and procedures of the school district and building; communicate effectively with parents and work collaboratively with staff. Perform other duties and/or complete special projects as assigned.
