This field-based role requires a strong scientific background to provide credible clinical/scientific data and education to clinicians, key opinion leaders (KOLs), professional societies, and payers. The Sr. MSL will demonstrate advanced medical and scientific expertise, support medical strategies, enhance thought leader relationships, and contribute to projects that increase the value and productivity of the MSL team and Medical Affairs.Essential Responsibilities:KOL EngagementDevelop relationships with KOLs in the assigned territory based on scientific exchangeEngage in scientific dialog effectively communicating scientific content in response to KOL requestsAssess KOL alignment with the key elements of the scientific platform to inform territory and medical strategyDevelop KOL Advocates and Collaborators within your assigned territoryCompliantly support company sponsored research, investigator-initiated studies, and publications associated with MNK product(s)Coach and support MSLs to help them gain access to KOLs and development engagement strategiesResearches and identifies KOLs and Focus KOLs for assigned therapeutic areaBuilds and executes a territory plan to achieve KOL engagement goalsComplete pre-call planning independently to ensure effective KOL interactionsDevelops KOL relationships and engages in scientific exchange with payers as neededHCP EngagementStay abreast of emerging scientific literature/clinical data and translate the data in applicable knowledge.Respond to MIRFs with an initial contact within 2 days and a full answer within 3 weeksIndependently ensure appropriate dissemination of clinical and scientific information regarding FDA approved and pipeline products in a timely, ethical, and customer-focused mannerInsight GenerationCollect scientific and clinical insights to support ongoing information/clinical data sharing (ie. new data, competitive information, insights learned from customer) to optimize communications and coordinated activities across the organization.Respond to all requests for directed insights within the expected timeframeParticipate in advisory boardsMonitors team insights adding tags and classifying insights for review/organizationInternal Project SupportContributes scientific content and helps build materials in support of a project or initiativeRuns projects independently including project planning, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and quality controlCoordinates the work of others and provides coaching to achieve project goalsTeamwork & LeadershipUnderstand and practice the MNK ValuesMentors MSLsLeads congress planning and reportingBuilds training materials using effective instructional design techniquesProvide ongoing scientific and medical training and/or support within the MSL team and to internal partnersChampion the MNK ValuesRequirements:Advanced scientific degree (MD, OD, PhD, PharmD) or equivalent experience.3+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, other healthcare environment or hospital experience Prior and recent experience in Rheumatology and/or PulmonologyProficient in clear scientific communication across various settings and skilled in cultivating relationships with high-level stakeholders.Adept at project management, encompassing timelines, stakeholder relations, risk mitigation, and delivering impactful training programs.Experience in a mentoring roleAbility to independently research responses to scientific inquiriesAbility to identify and build effective plans for engaging KOLs in your territoryBe a strong team player and effectively collaborate with internal departments.Be committed to full compliance with all company SOPs, regulatory requirements, and applicable laws including PhRMA guidelines for field-based personnel.Possess a valid driver’s licensePreferences: Thorough knowledge of medicine, treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, customer strategies, and FDA promotional guidelines, regulations, and ethical guidelinesOrganizational Relationship/Scope:This position reports to the Field Director of MSLs. The MSL may have contact with internal colleagues in marketing, sales, research and development, strategy/portfolio management, regulatory, and medical affairs. External collaboration includes trade associations, professional societies, payers, clinicians, policy thought leaders, and various government personnel and agencies. Collaboration across a matrix organization is required. MSLs have no sales objectives or accountability for prescribing or sales of any MNK product(s) and are required to avoid any situations that could create the appearance that they have such responsibilities.Working Conditions:Field-basedAbility to travel, up to 60% of the timeMallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals offers employees a Total Rewards package, which includes competitive base pay and bonus opportunities, excellent benefits, an outstanding work environment and the chance to grow, both financially and professionally.The pay range for this position in California is $179k-$220k annually, however base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education, and accreditations. A full range of medical, financial, and other benefits are provided as part of the compensation package. Base pay information is based on market location.
