JANOME AMERICA is hiring: Retail Sales Associate in New York

Janome America, Inc. is a distributor of household and computerized sewing machines; a subsidiary of Janome

Sewing Machine Company, Tokyo, Japan, who are one of the world’s largest manufacturers of home sewing

machines and leaders and innovators in the home sewing industry. Janome currently has a part-time

Sales Associate position available in the Bobinage store located in Brooklyn, NY.

Summary of Position:

Under the direction of the Retail Sales Manager, the Sales Associate performs sales activities of Janome products

and other numerous and diversified tasks in order to contribute to a profitable retail store thereby providing

customer satisfaction.

Essential Job Functions:

• Provide high quality sales and customer and employee relations by answering questions concerning product

feature and benefits, product location, price, and use of merchandise

• Provide strong customer demonstrations utilizing strong sales closing techniques with intent to sell

• Assist with the setup of advertising displays or arrangements of merchandise on counters to promote sales

• Updates store manager with customer feedback on sales, products, displays, and advertisements

• Assist with the record of sales, prepare and conduct frequent inventory of stock, maintain satisfactory recovery

rate of trade-ins and repairs, and order merchandise (notions and parts) as appropriate

• Participates in training of company products in order to ensure a good working knowledge in order to

demonstrate Sewing machines, sergers, presses, etc., and satisfy customer questions and requests

• Contributes to a positive team environment

Qualifications and Requirements:

• 1+ years retail experience with a demonstrated success in closing sales

• Minimum education – High School Diploma

• Sewing experience a strong plus

• Visual Merchandising skills

• Computer proficiency a plus

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Must be able to adjust controls on sewing machines and change product placements.

• Knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook)

Regular Store Hours of Operation: Wednesday to Sunday • 11 am to 7:00 pm

This is a Part-Time position, approximately 1-3 days per week. Some flexibility and additional hours

will be required during special events.
