PURPOSE AND SCOPE: The Analyst II, Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Retention is responsible for designing and executing retention strategies to enhance student success. This role involves working closely with faculty and students to identify at-risk individuals and provide support aimed at improving retention rates. The position ensures compliance with the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) regulations while helping ADN students transition from prerequisite courses to successful completion of the program. This is a temporary, grant-funded position. Continuation of the position from one academic year to the next is dependent upon continued grant funding. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Collect and analyze student data to identify at-risk ADN students and monitor retention trends Develop and implement targeted intervention programs for students struggling academically or personally Provide academic advising, mentoring, and support to nursing students, addressing barriers to their academic success Work with ADN faculty to develop and integrate retention initiatives across the curriculum Track student progress, offering adjustments to support plans and interventions as needed Conduct interviews with departing students to understand reasons for withdrawal and gather feedback for improvement Compile reports on student retention metrics and effectiveness of implemented strategies Assist students in preparing for the NCLEX-RN examination through structured guidance Ensure all student retention efforts adhere to Texas BON regulations and requirements Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Strong skills in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to utilize educational technologies and learning management systems Strong understanding of Texas Board of Nursing rules, ADN-level education, and Differentiated Essential Competencies (DECs) Familiarity with BON Rule 213.7 regarding faculty requirements Proficient in analyzing and utilizing data to develop retention strategies Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to interact with students, staff, and external stakeholders Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, enabling effective interaction with students, faculty, and administration Capable of guiding and supporting students through academic and personal challenges Knowledge of learning management systems and other educational technologies Ability to develop creative solutions to address student challenges and retention issues PHYSICAL ABILITIES: The work is primarily sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there will be some walking around campus to attend meetings; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS: Some evening or weekend work may be required based on student needs May require occasional travel to campus locations for things such as meetings, student advising, or program events PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Master's degree in Nursing and at least 5 years of experience * Experience must include at least 3 years of clinical nursing experience * Experience must include at least 2 years of teaching experience in an ADN program in Texas PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Experience developing or managing retention programs in ADN or community college settings * Experience supporting students' preparation for the NCLEX-RN exam * Familiarity with the Texas BON's approval and accreditation processes for nursing education programs Salary
Hiring salary range is $58,625-$67,419 Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
