The Division of Hospital Medicine was created in 1996 and was one of the first major teaching hospitalist programs in the country. Today, Hospital Medicine is one of the largest divisions in the Department of Medicine, comprising more than 60 physician and affiliate practitioner clinicians. In addition to its successful clinical enterprise, the Hospital Medicine division is very active in the Department's educational programs, and has expanding activities in the realms of Quality Improvement and Research.

We are currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Hospitalist Team. This provider will work per diem (night shift) and will be cross trained to rotate through roles with varying responsibilities including but not limited to admitting, rounding, floor cross coverage a hybrid of admitting and cross coverage, discharging, triaging and interfacility transfers. Rapid Response Team member. Works closely with other Hospital Medicine APPs and Hospital Medicine Attendings 24/7/365.

Services we cover overnight include BMT, Neurosurgery, Urology as well as post procedural coverage for GI, Body IR, Vascular IR, ENT, Ophthalmology

Major Responsibilities:

* Performs and documents a complete history and physical examination, including review of the available medical record, to formulate diagnoses and treatment plan.

* Orders and reviews appropriate laboratory tests and imaging studies.

* Participates in daily inpatient rounds, interviews and examines patients, reviews laboratory data and other clinical studies, and records daily progress notes.

* Requests consultations and communicates with consultants.

* Performs routine bedside or clinical procedures, as described in the Delineation of Privileges.

Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

* A Bachelor's degree and Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.

* Current Massachusetts license, issued by the Physician Assistant Board, and current NCCPA certification.

* If prescribing medications is included in clinical duties and privileges, Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration are required.
