Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as a Surgical First Assist in breast oncology procedures, requiring precision and skill with surgical instruments, sterile techniques, and compliance with operating room protocols. * Conduct peri-operative care, including history, physical exams, and care planning in collaboration with supervising physicians. * Manage pre- and post-operative patients, with a focus on wound care and healing. * Perform minor surgical procedures, such as drain placement/removal, wound care, and biopsies. * Communicate effectively with the care team, patients, and families, offering education and guidance. * Support a positive, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills:
* Strong verbal/written communication skills. * Interest in patient education and team collaboration. * Willingness to learn MD Anderson's OneConnect EMR system.

Education
Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), except for Physician Assistants who graduated from a PA program prior to 2013.
Certification/Licensure
All of the following: PA certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners. MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas. Must meet the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) , ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) if working in one of following department: Pediatrics - Patient Care (113100).
