Proud to be an equal opportunity employer.The Cell Therapy Translational Research Group, which is a part of Oncology Translational Research is seeking an experienced translational research scientist to develop and execute translational and biomarker plans to support the clinical development of novel chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)- T cell therapies across multiple disease indications.The incumbent will provide scientific leadership in preclinical and clinical translational research programs with a focus on CAR-T cell therapy. To this end the incumbent will be expected to develop strong collaborations and influence across the Oncology Therapeutic Area, leveraging expertise in the Discovery and Clinical organizations as needed. Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to develop scientific collaborations external to the organization in support of reverse translation efforts that will enable the interrogation of clinical samples to provide novel insights into disease biology and mechanisms of efficacy and safety. Details of the role include but are not limited to:Develop and implement the translational strategy for the CAR-T cell therapy compound, participate in the compound development team and/or relevant working groups, independently or working with senior translational research leadsGuide working groups to implement cell therapy translational strategy and manage ongoing programs and projectsDevelop, implement, and deliver on translational research collaborations and projects, including initial proposal development, planning timelines and resources, monitoring milestones and final deliverablesWork closely across groups and functions to explore novel indications and new drug combinations for compounds in clinical developmentCommunicate project deliverables to the leaders across the Oncology therapeutic area (TA), and other senior governance groups when necessaryInteract and liaison with internal experts, external experts, academic groups, and CROs to establish collaborations and projectsFulfill regulatory responsibilities including preparing, updating, and finalizing clinical/preclinical sections for clinical protocols and other regulatory documentsQualificationsPh.D. with experience in CAR-T cell therapy and/or immune oncology is required.At least five years of applicable translational, biomarker or clinical trial and research experience is required, preferably in an industrial setting. Strong publication record in cell therapy and/or immune oncology is highly preferredExperience guiding cross functional groups in a matrix environment is requiredExperience working closely with groups involved in biomarker operations, assay development/validation and external CROs is required Familiarity with the techniques common to translational research including, but not limited to, flow cytometry, genomics, proteomics and importantly, data analysis and specifically correlative analysis are requiredRelevant experience in clinical trials, drug development, drug discovery or biomarkers is requiredExperience in managing multi-faceted projects and programs is preferredStrong communication skills are requiredJohnson & Johnson is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year.
