It is a 144,000 square foot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms, an Acute Care Department, a 15-bed inpatient facility with two negative pressure rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite including MR and CT scan, x-ray and ultrasound and a full-service retail pharmacy.Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Nurse Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the staff of the evening shift of Yale Health. Maintains a work environment which is harmonious and wherein each member of the staff functions at the optimal level of competence.Oversees the delivery of nursing care and all clinical and administrative support services within a clinical department. In partnership with the Medical Chief is responsible and accountable for ensuring achievement of strategic objectives and mission in the related patient service line. Provides direct oversight of registered nurses, medical and administrative support staff. Practically applies comprehensive knowledge of nursing standards and principles as well as quality assurance and infection control theory in daily management. Develops and monitors annual budget and adheres to regulatory requirements at all times.Additional Responsibilities IncludeDevelops, maintains and assures appropriate clinical practice for nurses and support staff. Ensures desired clinical outcomes are achieved through clinical excellence, quality initiatives, cost effective measures and efficient processes.Achieves seamless delivery of outpatient care by involving colleagues, physicians, other clinical partners and staff to ensure commitment, alignment of goals, communications and cross-functional linkage.Reviews and determines staffing needs. Trains, orients and manages performance and assesses competencies of department staff. In conjunction with the Director of Nursing, coordinates with the Medical Services and Ancillary Patient Services, such as Pharmacy, Dietary, Housekeeping, and other building services.Performs documentation audits regularly.Works collaboratively with the Director of Nursing to maintain the regulations of licensure as published in the Public Health Code of the Connecticut Department of Public Health and Addiction Services, Joint Commission & PCMH.In collaboration with the Director of Nursing, develops annual competency program; monitors and assesses nursing performance, and performs written annual evaluations.Promotes a well-balanced healthy workplace environment, using creative management skills when necessary.Stimulates innovative thinking to accomplish goals.Participates in financial planning and compliance.Dept/Section URLhttps://yalehealth.yale.edu/Essential Duties Develops, maintains and assures appropriate clinical practice for nurses and support staff. 2. Participates in financial planning and compliance.Required Education And ExperienceBachelor's Degree in nursing and five years of relevant nursing experience.Required Skill/Ability 1Previous management experience with demonstrated ability to supervise clinical and administrative staff in a fast-paced, high volume environment.Required Skill/Ability 2Evidence of maintenance of professional skill and competency, attendance at educational programs such as seminars and workshops that are appropriate to the field.Required Skill/Ability 3Outstanding interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and excellent written skills.Required Skill/Ability 4Computer proficiency as it relates to the use of an EMR.
